Soon to Be a Major Motion Picture! TIME Magazine’s #1 Fiction Book of 2012!

The Fault in Our Stars is a love story, one of the most genuine and moving ones in recent American fiction, but it’s also an existential tragedy of tremendous intelligence and courage and sadness.” —Lev Grossman, TIME Magazine
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.
Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.
Review –
I knew a little about this book before I started listening to the audio version, but I wasn’t prepared for a death I really didn’t see coming. This is definitely a “box of Kleenex” story and more if you’re like me,(I cry at the drop of a hat).
I loved this book because of the surprise it gave me, because of the  chemistry between Hazel and Gus,  because of the reality of the storyline and finally because it was written very well and with care.  You can tell when an author is invested in his work or just cranking them(books) out for the money.
The movie comes out in a couple of months and I can’t wait.
Gave a box of Kleenex and start reading today.

Shelter by Harlan Coben

Product Description

A young adult debut from internationally bestselling author Harlan CobenMickey Bolitar’s year can’t get much worse. After witnessing his father’s death and sending his mom to rehab, he’s forced to live with his estranged uncle Myron and switch high schools.

A new school comes with new friends and new enemies, and lucky for Mickey, it also comes with a great new girlfriend, Ashley. For a while, it seems like Mickey’s train-wreck of a life is finally improving – until Ashley vanishes without a trace. Unwilling to let another person walk out of his life, Mickey follows Ashley’s trail into a seedy underworld that reveals that this seemingly sweet, shy girl isn’t who she claimed to be. And neither was Mickey’s father. Soon, Mickey learns about a conspiracy so shocking that it makes high school drama seem like a luxury – and leaves him questioning everything about the life he thought he knew.

First introduced to readers in Harlan Coben’s latest adult novel, Live Wire, Mickey Bolitar is as quick-witted and clever as his uncle Myron, and eager to go to any length to save the people he cares about. With this new series, Coben introduces an entirely new generation of fans to the masterful plotting and wry humor that have made him an award-winning, internationally bestselling, and beloved author.

Review –

I’ve been a fan of Harlan Coben for many years so it was only natural  for me to put his new young adult novel on my “to be read” list and select to read it ahead of several others on the list.

He (the author) did not let me down.  The plot was great, the characters very well developed and I like the way an old familiar character had a small part, that character being Myron Bolitar(who happens to be one of my all time favorites).  It was a very fast read and held my interest to the very end and left me wanting more.   I can’t wait for the next installment.
