Dirty (Dive Bar #1) by Kylie Scott

Format: Audio/OverDrive

The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that comes with her.

Lydia Green doesn’t know whether to burn down the church or sit and cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it’s with his best man is another thing all together. She narrowly escapes tying the knot and meets Vaughan only hours later.

Vaughan is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessman she thought she’d marry. This former musician-turned-bartender is rough around the edges and unsettled. But she already tried Mr. Right and discovered he’s all wrong-maybe it’s time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.

After all, what’s wrong with getting dirty?

Review –

The moment Vaughan finds Lydia (aka Runaway Bride) in a torn wedding gown and much of ample cleavage on display, in his bathtub, the steamy chemistry between them starts. They really have nothing in common, other than appreciation of the other’s body.

Vaughan is a failed musician who has come back from LA after ten years to his home town. Lydia has known her bridegroom to be for four months and minutes before the ceremony receives a video of him and the best man having sex. She bolts and climbs an 6-8 foot fence and see a small window open in a house next door. She climbs in, falling on her face and then Vaughan walks in.

They are “crazy at first sight” is how they describe what they have (crazy about each other) and the sex, well, it was mind-blowing. All of the sex scenes were very well done and not just sex for sex sake. Along with the hotness there is humor and that makes the story even more endearing.

Each of them say they are going to get on with their lives, Vaughan going back to LA to pursue music again and Lydia just getting on with her life having been humiliated in the press. Regardless, they fall for each other and even though things don’t go smoothly, there is a HEA and I must admit I shed a few tears.

Loved it and am looking forward to listening to Twist, the next in the Dive Bar series.

Arrogant, brooding, domineering, possessive, dangerously handsome, and a playboy. These are all the characteristics on Rebecca Gellar’s Run-Like-Hell list for men, but she’s about to meet a man who’s the epitome of these and more…

Convinced she can show the owner of StoneHaven Publishing that she has the ‘right stuff,’ Rebecca agrees to a six-month trial as the personal assistant to the owner’s playboy son, Nicholas StoneHaven. This is her big chance. If she can just get through these six months without strangling Nicholas with his Armani tie, she’ll be okay—easier said than done. Nicholas is the last person Rebecca thought she’d find herself pining for, especially when he hits every category on her list.

Review –

Vanessa Booke has done it again , Bound To You Volume  3 takes us in a roller coaster ride of lust, steaming sex, jealously, angst, romance , humor … you get the picture.

Nicholas finally realizes that he is head over hills in love with Rebecca , but he is still engaged to Alison and ending that engagement will cost him his inheritance, can he give up everything that he has worked so hard for in order to have the woman he loves ?

Miles is back and he is trying insistently to win Rebecca back , stalking her, texting , calling her, even proposing to her again and this has Nicholas dying of jealousy feeling insecure about Rebecca’s feelings for him .

Rebecca is trying to survive the overwhelming feelings she has for Nicholas, she can’t afford to lose her job, her parents are about to lose their house and she is trying to help them , Alison is hell bent on keeping them apart and threatens to have Rebecca fired if she doesn’t stays away from Nicholas….

With fierce and loyal friends like Carol and Tristan pushing them in the right direction , not everyone is against their relationship . We get to experience the deep , caring , loving and protective side of Nicholas , it makes it almost impossible for Rebecca to stay away from him .

We discover that our beloved Nicholas has many hidden talents ( other than being a Greek god and great in the sack) can you picture him wearing and apron , baking cookies, no less. To bad that happens at a family dinner so no hanky panky was possible  between Nicholas and Rebecca ,or was it?

Sadly, Nicholas Father finds out that something is going on with this two pulls Nicholas to his office and confronts him about it and gives him an ultimatum . Rebecca sort of overhears and flees the scene…

I won’t give the ending away but the author does not disappoint. Nicholas and Rebecca have come a long way in learning about themselves and each other and deserve the best.

Fantastic series. I loved it!
