Dirty Talk (Get Dirty #1) by Lauren Landish

Book Description:

Published: December 26, 2017

Format: E-Book

He makes dirty sound so good. So right.

The moment I heard his velvety voice growl that I’m his ‘Kitty Kat’, I knew I was in trouble.

Derrick ‘The Love Whisperer’ King gives out relationship and sex advice on the radio to everyone, but he’s giving me something a bit more personal. Nobody’s ever talked to me the way he does. Daring, Demanding, Sexy… and oh, so Dirty.

Maybe we started this whole thing a little backward, sex first and getting to know each other after. But I’m starting to let my guard down, my untrusting heart beginning to think that maybe fairy tales do come true. Even for me.

I feel beautiful and hopeful when he worships my body. I feel dirty and naughty when he whispers filthy things in my ear.

But is it real? Can something so naughty really be good for me?

And more importantly, against all odds, can it last… forever?

Dirty Talk is a full-length Romance with a happy ever after, no cheating, and no cliffhanger!

Review –

This was my first time to read anything by this author and I really loved the story and she writes sex scenes and sexy talk very well. The problem I had with that is the fact that there was way too much talking during sex scenes. Talk dirty. Hell, I love that. However, when you’re going on and on and on and using cheesy phrases that had me rolling my eyes when I should’ve been getting turned on, I have a problem.

Now about the characters of  Katrina and Derrick. I loved Derrick from the first page until the last one. I loved the way he talked to his listeners during the radio program and I loved the care he gave to Katrina, knowing she was a bit fragile after her history with men. And if the way he treated Kat in bed is anything to go by, holy Hell!   If there’s ever a such thing as a perfect boyfriend/lover, it’s Derrick King. Katrina, I liked well enough, though I couldn’t quite reconcile the shy/nerdy girl who first called the radio program with the sexting/video sex chatting girl who came shortly after.

The entire story is about Katrina and her fear of love and Derrick trying to convince her that he’s the real deal. I loved the build up and Derrick was so amazing. What I didn’t like is not being forwarded that the e-book included added or bonus content. Dirty Talk ended at 40% on my Kindle and I though WTF! I didn’t read the bonus information because I was still in a fog from the book ending but I can always go back when I want.

Oh, and the cover – The cover is absolutely beautiful. While the author should’ve changed Kat’s description to match the cover model (Kat’s described as having honey blonde hair throughout the book), I wouldn’t change a thing about the stunning cover.

If you are a fan of a man talking DIRTY – then is one is for you. Derrick King can talk dirty to me any time!

Sheer Submission (Sheer Submission Part One) by Hannah Ford

Book Description:

Published: January, 2018

Format: E-Book

Stay away from her.

The words burned against my brain, searing hot. Then another thought, more dangerous than the first.

Tie her wrists, brand her, teach her.

She was wearing a dress that was a size too small, and I knew immediately she didn’t have a boyfriend waiting for her at home, because no man would have let her out of the house in that.

The dress was red. Short. A sweetheart neckline that was supposed to make her look innocent, but did nothing except push her full curves up and over the material. Her hair was dirty blond and long, tousled around her shoulders.

She was sipping a glass of champagne and looking around nervously, her wide eyes flicking from person to person at the party, as if she were afraid she was going to get caught.

What have you done, bad girl? Something you should be punished for?

My palm burned as I imagined taking her over my knee, that short little dress pushed up, the place between her legs pulsing.

The feeling of desire I had looking at her was like an electric shock to my soul.

My instincts said to leave her alone, that this would end in nothing but tragedy. My instincts had always served me well in the past.

But this time, I decided to ignore them.

An innocent girl.

A ruthless man.

An inevitable, sordid devastation…

Review –

Though the storyline has been overly used, especially when dealing with “Billionaire Dominants in Business”, Hannah Ford was able to draw me in because of the secrets being held by Landon Sheer. He is so much more than he is portraying and little by little I’m sure all of them will become known to the readers.

Landon spots Aven at one of his office party business functions and knows she doesn’t belong there. Aven and her friend have crashed the party so she can ask Landon Sheer to help find her sister, Violet, who has disappeared. Aven believes Violet is with Landon’s brother but doesn’t know how to locate him.

Landon tells her he will help IF she will give into him, sexually, and she agrees UNTIL she sees the dark blue scarf with the “V” initial on it behind Landon’s bed. At that point she gathers up her clothes and leaves the hotel and walks home.

This was the end of the first book (if you can call 45 pages a book) so I purchased the second in the series, Sheer Torment, which I will comment on later.

Be warned that there are a LOT of typos and misspelled words but for 45 pages I overlooked it although it was bothersome.

You know how I am with covers and this one looks GOOD until you learn that Landon Sheer is a clean-shaven man. Just saying!

Playing With Fire by Lucia Jordan

Book Description:

Published: December 19, 2017

Format: Free Digital Book

This is the first book of the Playing With Fire Series a hot and fiery story with a delicious mix of romance, deep passion by Lucia Jordan!

Being a firefighter was the only thing Lucinda Gonzales ever wanted to be. While most girls were playing dolls or dress up, she was playing with her brothers in the back yard, pretending to save people from burning buildings. Firefighting is in her blood, passed down from generation to generation. So when she gets the chance to finally get into the academy to become a firefighter, she doesn’t hesitate. After her older brother is killed in a burning building, she becomes more determined than ever. She’ll be just as successful as her two brothers ahead of her, her father, and her grandfather. Just because she’s a girl doesn’t change a thing. However, there’s one person standing in her way of becoming the greatest. Chief Maddox Lancaster. The dangerously sexy, arrogant as hell fire chief seems to be throwing one obstacle after another at her, but she won’t let him stop her. It doesn’t matter if the smoldering looks he slides her way are hotter than a five alarm fire. Maddox Lancaster is more dangerous than any burning building—can Lucy take it?

Review –

This book was very very predictable but fun to read because the sexual tension between Maddox and Lucy was so HOT! That being said I didn’t become invested in the characters enough to buy the other books in the series. Am I glad I read it? Hell yes, I would have had to be dead not to.

Side note: I HATE the cover.

Stuck Up Suit by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

Book Description:

Published: April 11, 2016

Format: Audio/OverDrive

It started out like any other morning on the train.
Until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle.
He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world.
Who did the stuck-up suit think he was…God?
Actually, he looked like a God. That was about it.
When his stop came, he got up suddenly and left. So suddenly, he dropped his phone on the way out.
I might have picked it up.
I might have gone through all of his photos and called some of the numbers.
I might have held onto the mystery man’s phone for days―until I finally conjured up the courage to return it.
When I traipsed my ass across town to his fancy company, he refused to see me.
So, I left the phone on the empty desk outside the arrogant jerk’s office.
I might have also left behind a dirty picture on it first though.
I didn’t expect him to text back.
I didn’t expect our exchanges to be hot as hell.
I didn’t expect to fall for him―all before we even met.
The two of us couldn’t have been any more different.
Yet, you know what they say about opposites.
When we finally came face to face, we found out opposites sometimes do more than attract―we consumed each other.
Nothing could have prepared me for the ride he took me on. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for where I’d wind up when the ride was over.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Review –

I love it when a contemporary romance has substance to it, like a plausible plot, instead of just sex for the sake of sex.

In this stand alone novel a rich, stuck up, angry man in a suit loses his phone on the train and an Italian girl with a smart mouth and color on the tips of her hair finds it and after a few days returns it to him with a few pictures of her legs, butt and cleavage plus her number. Graham finally discovers who she is and the two start a hot and heavy relationship. The sex scene, which did not happen at their first meeting, was very well written and not over the top. What made it so good was the chemistry they had and their suggestive texts to one another.

They both come into the relationship with baggage, she has trust issues because of her father leaving when she was young and he not wanting to get hurt again after his fiancée cheated on him with his best friend.

It was fun watching Mr. Stuck Up Suit soften and allow his real self to emerge from his tough exterior and to watch her learn to trust again and take a chance on love.

Along the way there is a death, an ex-girlfriend/fiancée , a new-found daughter, and a happily ever after.

( But it takes awhile to get there.)

I really enjoyed this book and will now look for more books by this team of authors.

All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker

Book Description:

Published: July 12, 2016

Format: Audio/OverDrive

In the small, affluent town of Fairview, Connecticut everything seems picture perfect.

Until one night when young Jenny Kramer is attacked at a local party. In the hours immediately after, she is given a controversial drug to medically erase her memory of the violent assault. But, in the weeks and months that follow, as she heals from her physical wounds, and with no factual recall of the attack, Jenny struggles with her raging emotional memory. Her father, Tom, becomes obsessed with his inability to find her attacker and seek justice while her mother, Charlotte, prefers to pretend this horrific event did not touch her perfect country club world.

As they seek help for their daughter, the fault lines within their marriage and their close-knit community emerge from the shadows where they have been hidden for years, and the relentless quest to find the monster who invaded their town – or perhaps lives among them – drive this psychological thriller to a shocking and unexpected conclusion.

Review-

“The traumatic memories of a teenager’s rape are medically erased, but lingering thoughts of the attack remain, infecting everyone in her close-knit community.

15-year-old Jenny Kramer thought the party she’d been invited to would be the moment when she’d finally blossom, maybe even get a moment alone with the dashing Doug Hastings. Instead she found herself drunk, in the woods, the victim of a vicious hourlong rape, of which Walker spares the reader no detail in this unnecessarily explicit debut. After she’s rushed to the hospital, Jenny’s parents—blubbering car salesman Tom and tightly put together homemaker Charlotte —decide to give her an experimental drug cocktail to erase her memories of the attack. If the process were successful, there’d be no book, so enter the skin-crawlingly smug narrator, soon introduced as psychiatrist Dr. Alan Forrester, who begins treating Jenny, along with her whole family, after her nearly successful suicide attempt. It’s difficult to empathize with a character—our narrator no less—who looks at a 15-year-old assault victim and wonders to himself “why [he] could not see the rape in her eyes.” As the well-to-do enclave of Fairview, Connecticut, tries to regroup in the wake of zero viable suspects, Tom Kramer makes it his mission to find Jenny’s rapist, jumping on every slim lead, like the sighting of a blue Honda Civic near the party and  a boy in a blue sweatshirt.  The introduction of one of Alan’s other patients, a soldier who endured the same treatment as Jenny, merely clutters an already busy story whose resolution is anything but satisfying.

A repugnant narrator, even an unreliable one, makes it difficult to focus on the true victim, one who is crushed under the weight of this ridiculous plot.” from Kirkus Reviews

I couldn’t have said it better. As the book went on I began to wonder if indeed the rape of Jenny and her well-being was the focus of the story or if it was the Doctor Forrester and his well-being. To tell you the truth, I still don’t know.

Don’t waste your time.

Devil’s Advocate (Book One) by Carla Conwell

The more she falls for Gray, the more messy things get. As Gray gets yanked further and further into the world of his gang, Kristie finds herself having to make a choice: stay on her own path or risk everything to be with Gray. Will she be able to make it out unscathed?

***Due to sexually graphic content and language that some may find offensive, this book is intended for mature readers only***

Review –

You know I’m a sucker for a motorcycle club/bad biker boy/contemporary romance and when I ran across the blurb for this one AND it was free, I couldn’t resist.

It’s the typical good girl/bad boy contemporary romance BUT with a twist. Kristie and Gray are cousins by marriage and they are hugely attracted to one another. The story deals with Gray’s uncle  trying to get him to change his ways and his dealings with a motorcycle gang and Kristie coming home for a college break , meeting her new step-father and his nephew, Gray. There is also a policeman, John, who becomes attracted to Kristie and uses her to get the goods on Gray so he can be arrested for a hit and run/murder that he did not commit and a motorcycle club member, Armand, whose intentions are anything but honorable, when it comes to Gray.

There is of course a few sex scenes but they are on the mild side(compared to some) and by the end of the book Gray has told Kristie he was just using her, but in reality he doesn’t want to involve her anymore deeply into his chaos  and so he skips town and Kristie starts dating Armand. (I also gagged when I read that because he is so slimy )If anyone is using Kristie, it’s Armand.

All in all, a great read. Looking forward to Book Two.

Review –

This is the first book in this series that I have read and I found it a very enjoyable read because it had an actual plot separate from the sexual storyline. Most times in the genre of contemporary/ erotic romance sex dominates the entire story and sometimes that’s fine but once in a while it can be a bit much. It was refreshing to have the sex play a part in the story, like a character.

There was suspense, angst, dark sexy times, an intriguing plot, stable characters full of passion, snarky attitudes, and a journey to self-acceptance with a sexy domineering hero. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Excellent read  and I plan to check out the other books in the series, which I found out are all written by different authors.

Note*

Call me a chicken but I’m not showing the cover because my feed shows up on my Facebook page and it’s very very sexual in nature and I don’t want to shock my friends. You can see the picture on my page of covers I like.

Good Men (Book 1) by Lucia Jordan

Format: Free Digital Book

“Say, yes,” his husky voice coaxed, lips gliding against the column of her throat.  As his lips ghosted over her skin, his hands inched the hem of her skirt higher and higher . . .

They weren’t what they seemed. They weren’t who they claimed to be. They were something so much more. Trapped in a loveless marriage by a man harboring too many dark secrets to count, Aspen discovers her very life is in danger. She tries to walk away, but it’s never that simple. Nothing ever is.

Kevin and Liam are the only two men that can keep her safe. They are the only two men that leave her heart racing and her body charged with an electrical current. They are bad for her, but she can’t get enough. They have a secret life, and she’s been tossed into the middle of it. She thought they were there to save her. Maybe . . . she was wrong.

Review –

Aspen married a man twenty years her senior and at first things were fine, but five years later he’s hitting her, sexually ignoring her, and because she saw something she shouldn’t, he’s threatening her life.

She seeks the help of two handsome tattooed attorneys on getting a divorce but finds it’s not going to be easy. Allan, her husband, is in a “mob” and has many influential friends.

She is as immediately drawn to the strong bodied, caring men as they are  to her. Their lives are much different now from their early years being brought up in a motorcycle club, but it’s that knowledge that will help them now help Aspen.

Great read and the sexual chemistry between the attorneys and Aspen was off the charts.

Looking forward to reading Book Two.

Ten years later, I’ve found my way back. Back to their world. Back to him.

This time, I’m ready. I’ve been down this road before, and I know all the dirty, filthy ways Donovan will try and wreck me.

But it’s hard to resist. Especially when I know how much I’ll like it.

Review –

Warning: This book could contain triggers for some readers.

Sabrina happens upon Weston, a boy who she had a crush on back in college and who is also Donovan’s best friend, in LA. They have dinner and hooked up a weekend before Weston decides he wants Sabrina to quit her job and join his and Donovan’s company in New York. She says no, and a few months goes by before Weston makes her an offer she couldn’t refuse and now she’s off to NYC, thinking that Donovan is still working overseas and that she won’t have to see him. Well, he’s back in the US and he spends every opportunity to make sexist, misogynistic comments and sexually harass her. Sabrina constantly tells herself that she’s a strong woman and she deserves respect. Then, she throws all common sense out the window to have sex with Donovan.

The plot is predictable, but who cares, IT’S JUST A BOOK!

Sabrina continues to  forget her common sense and sleep with someone who doesn’t respect her and harasses her at every turn. Donovan is jealous Sabrina and Weston might have a thing going on, and Donovan is very manipulative.

He has an ex-fiance and became so consumed with her that he hired a PI to follow  her and let him know where she was every minute of the day, but she found out and wanted to call off the wedding if he didn’t stop. But he didn’t and she died in a car accident trying to get away from the PI.

When Sabrina finds this out she feels bad for Donovan and when she finds out he has a folder with over ten years of stuff on her she realizes just how obsessed he can get and that he loves her, in his own way. (Anyone else would say “stalker” and run the other direction, but not Sabrina.)

Donovan realizes that because he loves Sabrina she could get hurt or die so he decides to go to France for business and maybe not come back. He thinks distancing himself from her will keep her safe. END, can you say cliffhanger!!!!!!!

The next installment comes out in September and I can’t wait!!!!

HOT read.

Dirty Filthy Rich Boys (Dirty Duet #0.5) by Laurelin Paige

Book Description:

Published: February 22, 2017

Format: Free Digital Book

When I met Donovan Kincaid, I knew he was rich. I didn’t know he was filthy. Truth be told, I was only trying to get his best friend to notice me.

He saved me, and then Weston finally noticed me, and I finally learned what it was to be in their world.

Because when dirty, filthy, rich boys play, they play for keeps.

Review –

Dirty Filthy Rich Boys is the prequel novella in the Dirty Duet series and is set 10 years before the first book, Dirty Filthy Rich Men, starts its story.

Sabrina was just a freshmen student who had a big crush on a guy who didn’t even know she existed. But what she didn’t know in return was that her existence had become more than noticeable and acknowledged by someone who was about to rock her world. And then some. And some more. Just in case she didn’t feel his earthquake.

Though not a traditional triangle Sabrina will find herself caught between the two bad boys; one whom she will have a crush on and one whom she will crave. It’s a game of sex, control, jealousy, manipulation, secrets and possession.

This is a butterflies-in-your-belly set-up driven by Donovan’s sinister and calculated manipulations and further complicated by Weston’s charm and loyalty to his best friend. What will happen? I’ll let you know in my review of Dirty Filthy Rich Men.

This is a very HOT read.
