Review –

Another amazing installment of the Brie’s Submission series centering around the Dominant of Rystar Durov, a sadist, and “blood brother” to Sir Thane Davis.

In this  book we learn more background of Rystar and his deep love for his first love, Tatiana, and the reason behind the murder of his beloved mother. He’s an all or nothing kind of guy and never does things half way, and shows this in his love and care for Brie while Sir is still in a coma. Her welfare comes first, no matter that a hit man is after him for killing the “maggot” back in the club in Russia. He truly loves Brie and has confessed this to Thane and he is surprised that the knowledge did not change things between them. But Thane completely understands, after all, it’s Brie.

Rystar deals with the “crazy half-sister from Hell”, Lily, and she confesses that her intent had been to kill Brie’s child and then sell Brie into slavery. When he has to leave town he entrust her charge to Todd Wallace and he will notify the police and let the law take over. But he has waited too long and is confronted by his enemies in Sir’s room at the hospital, no less, and is beaten and dragged away. BUT, before the hit squad enter the room Rystar slips a note into Brie’s hand and tells them her and Thane to shut their eyes, because that way they won’t be able to identify to bad guys.
As he is dragged away and thrown in a van, there is a slight smile on his face the he recalls what the note says – “Tell Sunshine(his name for Brie’s baby girl(he know it’s going to be a girl) to save a dance for me”.
OMG – tears were falling down my face at this point.  I can’t wait to get into the next book.
Love, love this series.

Mistress by James Patterson and David Ellis

Book Description:

Published: August 5, 2013

Ben isn’t like most people. Unable to control his racing thoughts, he’s a man consumed by his obsessions: movies, motorcycles, presidential trivia-and Diana Hotchkiss, a beautiful woman Ben knows he can never have. When Diana is found dead outside her apartment, Ben’s infatuation drives him on a hunt to find out what happened to the love of his life. Ben soon discovers that the woman he pined for was hiding a shocking double life. And now someone is out to stop Ben from uncovering the truth about Diana’s illicit affairs. In his most heart-pumping thriller yet, James Patterson plunges us into the depths of a mind tortured by paranoia and obsession, on an action-packed chase through a world of danger and deceit.

Review –

The character of Ben Casper is more likely to go off on a tangent about scenes, dialogue and his favorite actors from the movies, or list trivia of all the presidents. I believe he does this to stay sane. When he was eight his father killed his mother and blamed it on him (later, much later-we find out why) and all these years he has hated his father.

He doesn’t have a relationship with a female now or ever that we can discern, but he would love to have one with Diana Hotchkiss, whom he finds out wasn’t the person he thought her to be.

The story is full of intrigue, blackmail, assassins, Russians, Chinese, secrets, deception and edge of the seat action.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it if you like an action-packed mystery.

Review –

Fantastic book and a very fast read.  It’s like James Bond meets Max Factor times ten.

A television series based loosely on this story line starts March 31, 2015 on the TV Land channel.   I plan to watch the first episode to see how bad they stray from the book and depending on how that goes I’ll decide whether or not to watch it weekly.

Should be interesting.

Publication Date: February 22, 2012 | Series: Hamish Macbeth

When Scotland is hit by the recession, Police Constable Hamish Macbeth notices that the Highland people are forced to come up with inventive ways to lure tourists to their sleepy towns. The savvy local tourist director renames the woods “The Fairy Glen,” and has brochures printed with a beautiful photograph of a kingfisher rising from a pond on the cover.

It isn’t long before coach tours begin to arrive. But just as the town’s luck starts to turn, a kingfisher is found hanging from a branch in the woods with a noose around its neck. As a wave of vandalism threatens to ruin Braikie forever, the town turns to Hamish Macbeth. And when violence strikes again, the lawman’s investigation quickly turns from animal cruelty to murder.

Although this book will not be released until February 22, 2012, I was lucky enough to get it through Net Galley as an audiobook and I loved it.  I have read every book in the  Hamish MacBeth  series and always find it hard to wait for the new one  to come out.
Poor Hamish, you just have to feel sorry for him, although his life is his own making and it would take so little to change it. He is much smarter, more astute, more compassionate and more loving than he lets on and I just hope that soon the author will give him a real love interest and push the dog and cat to the back burner.
If you’re looking for a Cozy Mystery series to try-this one is a winner.
