Kate loves her life. At forty-four, she’s happily married to her kind husband, Ron, blessed with two wonderful children, and has a beautiful home in San Francisco. Everything changes, however, when she and Ron attend a dinner party and meet another couple, Peter and Jill. Kate and Peter only exchange a few pleasant words but that night, in bed with her husband, Kate is suddenly overcome with a burning desire for Peter.

What begins as an innocent crush soon develops into a dangerous obsession and Kate’s fixation on Peter results in one intense, passionate encounter between the two. Confident that her life can now go back to normal, Kate never considers that Peter may not be so willing to move on.

Not long after their affair, a masked man barges into the café Kate is sitting in with her best friend, firing an assault weapon indiscriminately into the crowd. This tragedy is the first in a series of horrifying events that will show Kate just how grave the consequences of one mistake can be.

Review-

“Oh! What A Tangled Web We Weave When First We Practice To Deceive”  Sir Walter Scott

This simple statement perfectly sums up the moral of this story, and what a story it is!

This was  my first reading of a John Lescroart book and I loved it.  I found the storyline to be very on point and the characters very credible.

In today’s society of “instant gratification” the consequences of actions are rarely considered and that was the problem with Kate having a “one night stand” with Peter.

Along with her infidelity, there is a domestic terror attack, a murder and multiple suspects, and a friend who doesn’t know her best friend as well as she thought she did.

The author  serves up a brilliant whodunit mystery that had me holding my breath until the very end, which is perfect, by the way, if not a little frustrating.

Fantastic standalone read.

Five stars!!!!!

Dirty Billionaire (The Dirty Billionaire #1) by Meghan March

I’ve got a big dick and an even bigger bank account. That’s pretty much where my bio ends. Honestly, I don’t need to say anything else. I’ve just sold 99% of women on going home with me.

Do I sound like an asshole to you?

That’s because I am.

And guess what? It works for me just fine.

Or at least it did.

Until I met her.

Books talk about sparks flying. Fuck that shit. With her, it was like emergency flares mixed with jet fuel. Or maybe just straight up napalm.

Only one problem.

She didn’t leave her name or number when she disappeared from the hotel room after the hottest fucking night of my life. Now I’ve had a taste of unicorn pussy—the sweetest, rarest of all pussy—and I need it again.

So what’s an asshole to do?

I took this problem to the street. A missed connection gone viral.

And when I find her? I’m keeping her.

I normally don’t read or listen to any genre of books involving Country Western music stars, but what can I say, Sebastian York was one of the narrators for this book, so I HAD to listen.

The storyline is a bit weak – a one night stand that turns into a marriage with the billionaire groom willing to help her career, but on his terms.

Not the best but not the worst either so I sat back and loved listening to Mr. York’s captivating voice.

Will I listen to the two other books in this series? Duh, with Sebastian York narrating I’d listen to any thing!

First Submission (Ranger Heat #1) by Caitlyn Lynch

Angry at her cheating boyfriend, Selina revisits an old haunt looking for distraction. She might have found a little more than she bargained for in the form of Brody, but the attraction between them is too sizzling hot to be denied!

Five-star-feedback-on-oDesk

The above is a very short concise blurb which, to me, doesn’t do this book justice.

Selina finds a receipt in her boyfriends jeans showing drinks at an upscale hotel, comforts him, and when he doesn’t deny the allegation, she leaves and ends up at a club she used to frequent BM (before Mark).

She dances, drinks a couple of beers and is hit upon by men, all of whom she rejects. Then along comes Brody and she can tell right away he’s different, by the way he’s dressed and his mannerism, she figures military. They kiss and eventually end up in a back room and have rough  hot sex. Brody senses Selina liked it rough and was very submissive. He’s only in this city tis morning so he asks her to come back to his hotel and she does. He assumes that she IS a submissive and he is a Dom so he’s anxious for the night to begin when he discovers she doesn’t realize she is a submissive so with her approval sets out to teach her the basics and in the morning Selina wakes up alone in the bed with a note that says “Look me up if you are ever in Savannah” and she thinks to herself “I wonder how far it is to Georgia?”  END

OMG!!! There is no way that I’m not reading the next one in the series. Brody is very hot, sinfully hot and Selina realizes that she’s been missing something in her relationship with Mark and I know she is going to end up in Georgia sooner than late.

Fast read, very steamy explicit sex scenes, not love scenes, just sex and I can see a great story line building into the second book. Can’t wait to start it.

Five stars *****

Bait (Wake #1) by M. Mabie

Book Description:

Published: October 13, 2014

He was trouble from the start, but I couldn’t resist.
She was the best kind of trouble. The kind that was so wrong, it felt right.

I’ve tried and failed to stay away from him.
I’ve done everything in my power to make her mine and keep her.

He’s almost impossible to say no to.
She never tells me yes.

We’re always fighting.
When we’re not fighting, we’re… well… making up.

He makes me laugh so hard.
I miss her laugh the most.

I’m a liar.
She knows the truth, but won’t admit it.

Sometimes, I wish I’d never met him.
I wish we could meet all over again. I’d do better.

His girlfriend knows.
The guy she’s with is a fool.

I’ll never love anyone like I love him.
She doesn’t love me enough to choose us.

It was the wrong place.
It was the wrong time.

It should have been him.
It will always be her.

This book contains adult situations and is recommended for adult readers.

Review –

This was offered as a free book and I didn’t think I’d like it but the more I read the more I had to keep flipping pages, or whatever you do on a e-reader.

It’s a boy meets girl/girl meet boy at a bar and then has a one night stand kind of story, but it doesn’t end there.

The girl, Blake, has a boyfriend(who later becomes her fiancée and husband) but  feels a pull toward Casey, the brother and twin of the boy who is dating her  best friend. Casey is at the bar having a few drinks before going to break up with his girl-friend.

Of course, the one-night stand is earth movingly good and they decide to keep in touch by texting and of course this leads to many many hook-ups over the course of almost two years. They can’t get enough of each other, but Blake doesn’t think that Casey wants what she wants and Casey is so jealous of her boyfriend he can’t see straight.

Blake eventually married Grant (a robot like man) who comes make her come unless she asks him to call her “Betty”, the nickname given to her my Casey.  They marry on the exact date of the first anniversary of her one night stand with Casey, in May and on New Year’s Eve it comes to a head and her husband finds out about Casey.

Blake tells Casey that she has to go back to him to finish it(get a divorce) and then she can finally come to him and stay.  End.

BLAKE GOT ON MY LAST NERVE. She thought about Casey 24/7 and “loved” Grant but wasn’t in love with him.  I wanted to shake her. How could she not see what Casey was offering her as opposed to the mundane, hum-drum life  of being married to Grant?

I’ve already purchased the next in the series(Over-priced-but I had to see how things turn out-right?)
