Valeri Huntington has her dream—a publicist for one of the top firms on the east coast. Nevertheless, she can’t help but feel like something is missing. A long list of men has been left in her wake because they just can’t seem to measure up or she finds a way to rationalize her way out of anything before it gets too serious. The one relationship she did have ended roughly and left her picking up the pieces up of her heart for months. After that breakup, she vowed to throw herself into her work and that’s where she’s been ever since. The night she ran into Dallas McCormick she was left feeling like she’d been hit with a ton of bricks. The reclusive man that lived in the mountains was somewhat of a legend. He’d outright insulted her and pissed her off like no one ever has, and yet, her body burned from a desire that she had no idea even existed.

Like a magnet, she was pulled to him and she had no idea why. Dallas McCormick was not the man everyone created rumors about. However, there is no denying that there is a dark shadow that looms over him, and it’s one that could very well put Valerie in harm’s way.

Review –

This is the first book in the Crazy Beautiful series and although it was good, I don’t plan to read the others. There was a bit of chemistry between Valeri and Dallas but it wasn’t the combustible type and it’s too predictable. Dallas is ex-military and suffers from PTSD and that’s what puts Valeri in harm’s way at the end of the book. The reader knows that everything is going to work out fine in the end so why spend money just to confirm that?

It was a short pleasant read. Great cover though!

Review –

Door three picks up right where door two left off. The mountain man, Conrad Killian, has purchased Hannah for sexual companionship and the journey to his cabin will take four days by horseback, in the snow and through a mountain pass.

On their journey they meet Charlie, a drifter, who shares their fire one night. He tries to buy Hannah from Conrad but of course Conrad refuses and Charlie threatens him, saying he’s made a big mistake.

Once at the cabin, which is small and very utilitarian, with only one bed,  Hannah tells him she’s not ready for sex  and he tells her she will be and tells her to get undressed down to a thin wool slip. He doesn’t insist on sex that night because they are both tired from all the traveling. He tells her to give their situation a month and if she’s not happy he will take her  to Denver and set her up. She agrees.

Conrad tells her he lost his wife in an Indian battle and has been a recluse ever since.

Days go by and Hannah finds herself very sexually attracted to the handsome mountain man and one thing leads to another and they have very hot sex, A LOT!  It goes on like that until one day Charlie shows up at the cabin and kidnaps Hannah. They get several miles away and Conrad tracks them down and kills Charlie and on their way back to the cabin they are surrounded by an Indian party. The indians want Hannah and the horses by Conrad talks them into taking only his horse and coming to the cabin for some others. Hannah and Conrad have hot  sex on the porch after the Indian go and afterwards he tells her she has to go. He opens the door and she walks through leaving him behind.

Everything is quiet and she’s back in the BLACK ROOM on the white cot with the small black table to her left and on it the thick white candle. Now there are only five doors, three black, one silver and one green.

Hannah wants Conrad back, any version of him, and so she gets up and goes to door four and turns an ornate brass doorknob  and steps over a threshold .  Can anyone say CLIFFHANGER?

Door three has been my favorite so far because of the time period it takes place  and the handsome mountain man who was a kind, attentive, and very skilled lover.

Five stars *****

Crash by Drew Jordan

Book Description:

Published: October 31, 2015

This is a dark, erotic thriller intended for mature audiences. Not a traditional romance, but a love story with a twist, this is book one in a three part series.

The greatest love stories begin with blood…

There is blood. There is pain. And there is him. These are the first things I register when I wake up, the lone survivor in an Alaskan plane crash. He carries me to safety over rough terrain and brings me to his cabin in the woods. He has no name. Or none he will tell me.

As snow creeps across the harsh and isolated landscape, he is my only company. My protector, my caretaker. A fascinating enigma, with mysterious eyes, gentle hands, and a rough voice that demands more from me than I ever expected to give. I make up different stories, different names for him depending on his mood, because I know nothing about him except that he is my only connection to the real world I want to return to. So I work to please him, plotting my escape, yet all the while I start to crave him and every touch of his dominating body.

He has saved me from the cold. From death. But in taking me and my body, will he destroy me?

Part one of this book was offered free but the ending left me hanging so I HAD to buy the full book to find out what happened and it was money well spent.

There is a plane crash in remote Alaska and Laney is the sole survivor and saved by a rugged mountain man, whose name we never learn. I’m still uncertain if the pilot was too injured to save or the “no name” just left him there to die and saved the pretty girl.  I think he let him die.

He takes Laney to his cabin, which is just a bare bones building, nothing fancy. At first he appears to be a good guy that was in the right place at the right time to save her but as the days go by we discover that maybe that’s not the case and he wants only one thing from her-sexual gratification. Laney ponders this too and is afraid of him but realizes he DID save her so why would he want to hurt her now. He won’t tell her his name or how long he’s been there or why he’s there. Once when he’s out hunting she discovered a newspaper clipping about a dead girl and we later surmise that “no more” might have drown her, but that’s not made clear.

He tells Laney that she must obey him in every regard and if she doesn’t she will be punished and he keeps his word-once by making her stay outside in the freezing cold to fend for herself because she tried to leave.  But on the flip side, he can be gentle and makes love to her and other times he likes to tie her wrists to the headboard with rough rope, somethings ties her wrists behind her back or over a ceiling beam. He likes rope! He uses gentle threats to make her obey and she does. “No name” tells her that he loves her and will take care of her and never wants her to leave.

After building trust between them he lets her go into town with him for supplies and who should they run into but an old friend, Michael, that she had been planning to meet up with. Michael is shocked to see her because everything thought she had wandered away from the plane and died and been eaten by carrion.  He wants to take her back to Seattle with him so a doctor can check her out, but “no name” suggests Michael come back to the cabin with them and get an early start the next day.  At that point bells are going off in my head and I’m saying, DON’T GO-CAN’T YOU SEE IT’S A TRAP!, but Michael goes back with them and he and “no name” have a frank discussion about Laney, in which he tells him that she’s has a very disturbing past. Her step-father sexually abused her to the point of getting her pregnant at the age of sixteen. He’s in prison now but she still loves him(no one knows this)She doe not have custody of her daughter now and her mother, Victoria, is a mess and on top of everything else, Michael says Laney gets easily attached to any man who is kind to her. “No name” asks Michael what his plans are for Laney and he says he plans to marry her.

Laney overhears their conversation and wants to go back with Michael and at the same time doesn’t. She wants “no name” to ask her to stay but know that he won’t because he wants her to stay on her own.

The time comes for them to leave and Michael sees the cuts and bruises on her body and says he is going to call the police and tell them all about the way her “rescuer” has treated her. Laney knows cell phones don’t work in the remote woods where the cabin is located but know that it will once they reach town. What she does next left me with my mouth hanging open. I won’t say what it was but I can’t wait for book two to find out what happens next.  Great twist and totally unexpected.

Review –
Blue’s mother has been missing for three months looking for her ex-lover underground. No one is worried except Blue and her mother’s ex-hitman boyfriend. Meanwhile, Adam, Gansey and Ronan, The Raven Boys, and ghostly Noah, who wants to be corporal again and Blue discover a strange cave guarded by an even stranger mountain man and inside find an old Welsh coffin.  Not heeding warnings to the contrary, they open the lids and the long-buried but not asleep daughter of Glendower “escapes”. No one knows if she’s friend or foe. If  that wasn’t enough going on-the boys discover that the man who hired the ex-hitman is now their Latin teacher.(Small world)
I thought this was the end of the series and was very put out that the ending was a cliff hanger but I did some checking and there is one more book in the works and now I can’t wait. I love everything about this series.
