Defy (Sinners of Saint #0.5) by L J Shen

Book Description:

Published: January 31, 207

Format: Audio/Audible

Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella. Defy is a prequel to Vicious. It is recommended, but unnecessary, to read Defy before reading Vicious.

My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make.
I slept with my student, a senior in high school.
Multiple times.
I had multiple orgasms.
In multiple positions.
I slept with my student and I enjoyed it.
I slept with my student and I’d do it all over again if I could turn back time.
My name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principal’s office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the cops on me.
My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.

Review –

I usually never read Teacher/Student contemporary romances because they are too “icky”, but this was a prequel to Vicious, which I did want to read, so I read it and I loved it.

Jamie is unlike any eighteen year old boy I knew in my teens, but this is fiction, after all. He is self-assured, cocky, hot and sexy and seems to know just what a woman eight years his senior wanted sexually.

Melody isn’t your token stiff, boring, literature teacher and they get together when Jamie is  literally three months away from graduation. Melody was relatable in that she owned up to her lust for Jamie right away. She wasn’t a predator, she was more of the prey. Who can resist a guy like Jamie? She was in a tough position in life that makes it easy to understand why she would throw caution to the wind and consider an illicit affair with a student.

One thing I LOVED was Jamie’s unwavering devotion to Melody. He may have been so much younger than her, but he had the backbone and loyalty many full-grown men could use. He wasn’t just a teenager wanting to bang his teacher to have something to tell his pals over a few drinks. Genuine feelings took root and didn’t let go and transformed this book from just a forbidden fantasy story, to something a lot deeper and meaningful. True romance at its best. It won’t take you more than a couple of hours to read this one, so I highly recommend you pick it up right away, especially if you’re planning to read Vicious or the other books in the series.

Undeniable (Undeniable #1) by Madeline Sheehan

Book Description:

Published: December 20, 2012

Format: Audio/Audible

Warning: This is not a typical, sappy love story. This is an all-consuming, soul-crushing, tear-your-heart-into-pieces story. It’s intense, gritty and raw, dark and disturbing, and it doesn’t happen overnight. This is an epic love story that knows no boundaries and has no time limits. It grows and develops-with hurt, sacrifice, and heartache-over the span of a lifetime. Eva Fox is the princess of the Silver Demons Motorcycle Club. Growing up with bikers in the club lifestyle is all that she knows. When she’s a young girl, Eva meets the reason for her existence. Deuce West is the sexy, biker bad-ass of the Hell’s Horsemen Motorcycle Club. Like Eva, he was born and raised in the club-but that’s where the similarities end. Their first meeting is innocent, but as Eva matures into a woman, their chance reunions evolve into a fit of lust and love. Fate continues to bring them together time and time again, but their twisted journey is filled with pain, betrayal, and bloodshed that could tear them apart. Eva sees in Deuce what he cannot see in himself-a man worthy of love-and Eva spends her lifetime proving to him that her undeniable love is the one thing he can’t live without. This is Eva and Deuce’s story. It wasn’t easy. Nothing worth doing ever is. And love is worth everything.

Review –

First new series of the year and I love this first installment.

This book is so wrong that it just seems right. Older man, younger woman, (like an eighteen year age difference) meet when she’s five and he’s twenty-three at a prison, where they are both visiting their fathers.  Eva’s father is the president of an MC and Deuce is about to inherit that role of a rival MC when his father dies. Right from the get go, Eva is in love with Deuce and she has caught his eye. They meet sporadically over the years until Eva is sixteen, and Deuce, thirty-four, and they become intimate(not full on intercourse)and he eventually takes her virginity at eighteen – I mentioned the wrongness right?

The book is set in the badass world of Motorcycle Clubs and it’s raw, rough, edgy to say the very least as the story absolutely hurtles along like a runaway train out of control. It practically pulsates with an energy, a life force of its own. Deuce behaves like a jerk to Eva for nearly all the book but true love is undeniable and, despite everything that goes down and boy does it go down, their feelings for one another completely outweigh time and everything that happens.

If you are offended by the word f*ck, DO NOT read or listen to this book because it’s used her and over and over again. If you love hot, steamy sexual chemistry and love that endures time, DO read this book.

I loved it and can’t wait to read more in this series.

Bossman by Vi Keeland

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.

I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.

He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.

So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.

When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.

I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.

But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.

My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.

I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?
Then again…

What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

Review –

Oh, how good it was to finally read a spot-on hilarious new adult novel? emotional, and I just needed a break. This on was particularly lightweight and just right.

I loved Chase and Reese together and their sexual chemistry was off the charts.  Both characters are interesting and well-written.  There was also a great deeper emotional level when it came to both Chase and Reese’s pasts and it added a wonderful layer to both characters.  I loved watching their relationship grow from something innocent and fun into more meaningful and serious.  Of course, there are a few bumps along the way but it just made me love their story even more and I was so happy the way things ended for these two!

The whole plot wasn’t entirely something new, but I still loved it. Vi Keeland’s writing made it effortless to get into, which made this book even easier to read/listen.

If you’re looking for a book guaranteed to pull you in and keep you glued to each sexy and fun page, this is a book for you! Thank you, Ms. Keelend, for an other amazing read!

Domination (Submission #2) by CD Reiss

Book Description

Published: November 2017

Format: Audio/Audible

I want to just clarify a couple of things.
Submission is not abdication. Submission is not resignation. It’s not weak or fragile. It doesn’t mean I break at the first sign of trouble.
Well, I broke for a few weeks. When I realized I was falling in love with Jonathan and that I’d never be the same if I allowed it to continue, I broke into a million sharp little pieces. I think I damaged him in the process.
But what could I do?
Stay with him and untangle the mess of his life? Commit to his rules, his secrets, his troubles?
No. Just, no.
If we’re doing this, we’re doing it. If I’m committing, it’s to a man, not a lie. I’ll strip away everything between us, even if it ends us.

Review –

In this book we learn more about Jonathan’s past and drama.. his ex-wife constantly wanting to ruin him and get his money.. his crazy family and secrets. Monica still fighting to get a place on the music industry.. she wants to be herself not to be attached to any men last name and power. She wants to show that she is strong and doesn’t need any money or a man to hold her back.. even thou she keeps failing to achieve that when it comes to Jonathan. There’s a lot of twists and turns in Domination, people keeps trying to break them apart. lies, secrets and a past that keeps trying to come between them. The love between Jonathan and Monica is so surreal and very strong and in this book their relationship evolves even more, it get deeper and closer.. their feelings are more palpable, their love overflows the pages of the book.. is like you get to feel how strong their feelings are for each other, is just breathtaking to read about these two.

The sex between  Jonathan and Monica is darker and fiercer  and very very explicit. Jonathan is a sexual sadist and poor Monica takes anything he can dish out. I feel she is too submissive  in these cases.

This installment of the Submission series ends in a surprising cliffhanger that I didn’t see coming. Can’t wait to start the third and last book in the series, Connection, but first I have another book to read from Overdrive.

Preppy: The Life and Death of Samuel Clearwater, Part Two (Kind #6) by T M Frazier

Book Description:

Published: January 24, 2017

Format: Audio/Audible

Preppy finds himself back in a world he once loved, but no longer recognizes. His dim smile can’t hide his inner turmoil and the people he views as family all suddenly feel like polite strangers.

Except for one person. A girl with dark eyes and even darker hair.
A girl who isn’t even an option.

At least, not anymore.

Dre can’t decide who she’s going to listen to. Her heart, her head, or her body. Because two out of those three things have her heading right back to Logan’s Beach. Closure is what she tells herself she’s seeking, but when she unlocks doors that were never meant to be opened she soon discovers that when it comes to Samuel Clearwater, closure might NEVER be an option.

Review –

Preppy and Dre share a passionate and yet volatile relationship. When Preppy left Dre the first time, he broke her. Now that Preppy is back, he is struggling with learning how to live again. Dre is finally clean and sober and getting tangled up in Preppy might be the one thing that brings her back into her life of addiction and yet, is it possible that Preppy is the only drug that she needs to survive?

Told in dual POV, Preppy, is an unforgettable character. I found the circumstances in this installment to be more intense because I feared that Preppy and Dre may not be able to overcome the distance and pain between them. Although the primary emphasis is on Preppy and Dre, the supporting characters continue to enhance the overall story as they act as an ensemble driving the action. The intimacy between Preppy and Dre is raw, rough, and so so sexy! Out of all of the characters in this series, I believe Preppy and Dre are my favorite due to the complex relationship they share. The story arc is well-developed, and although I was quite frustrated with the amount of time it took for Preppy to make things right, I recognize that he remains true to his character and does everything in his own way and in his own time!

I’m listening to Part Three now and can’t wait for Preppy and Dre to have their HEA.

Review –

HOLY MOLY ! This book is so sexually hot that I swear I could see steam coming out of my media device!

Kane/Saxon is soooo hot that there are no words. the book starts off with a BANG and never lets up.

Temperance works for a distillery and unbeknownst to her goes to a sex club on a business call, but ends up having sex with a handsome stranger. Deep inside she has “bad girl” feelings but has given that up for respectability.

Next she sees the stranger at a charity event she is running for the distillery and makes up her mind to back to the club and find him again. She does and again they have sex, but she still doesn’t know his name.

Even with the help of her hacker friend, she is unable to find out his name.

Then, her brother, who is not always on the right side of the law, goes missing and she finds out that a hit has been taken out on him and none other than the stranger is looking to collect.  END.

My oh my, I had to go buy the next book in the series and it’s just as good. I’ll be talking about it another day.

Fantastic read and I rated it five steamy stars!!!!!

The Pawn (Endgame #1) by Skye Warren

Book Description:

Published: December 6, 2016

Format:Free Digital Book

“Sinfully sexy and darkly beautiful, The Pawn will play games with your heart and leave you craving more!” – Laura Kaye, New York Times bestselling author

The price of survival…

Gabriel Miller swept into my life like a storm. He tore down my father with cold retribution, leaving him penniless in a hospital bed. I quit my private all-girl’s college to take care of the only family I have left.

There’s one way to save our house, one thing I have left of value.

My virginity.

A forbidden auction…

Gabriel appears at every turn. He seems to take pleasure in watching me fall. Other times he’s the only kindness in a brutal underworld.

Except he’s playing a deeper game than I know. Every move brings us together, every secret rips us apart. And when the final piece is played, only one of us can be left standing.

THE PAWN is a full-length contemporary novel from New York Times bestselling author Skye Warren about revenge and seduction in the game of love. It’s the first book in the brand new ENDGAME series.

Review –

Avery’s world is falling apart. Her father is very bad off after getting severely beaten over bad business dealings with a man named Gabriel. Gabriel  sells and buys things – things like guns and drugs. Avery goes to the “King of the Underworld” Damon Scott for hopes of a loan, but when she discovers Damon reports to Gabriel, she knows she is big trouble.

When Gabriel learns eighteen year old Avery is a virgin, he tells her that her virginity is the most valuable thing she owns and if it is sold, she would make enough money to help her father and keep his house. But she would be owned for a month. He will sell her body to the highest bidder at auction. After thinking on it, Avery feels as if she has no choice.

Of course, the night of the auction, Gabriel actually bids and wins Avery – and now she is his for one month in exchange for a million dollars.

Gabriel never forces Avery to have sex – you actually learn he has had a thing for her for quite some time and kind of arranged this entire thing so he could have a chance with her. While Avery is bought by him, she enjoys the pleasure he gives her. He saves her virginity for as long as he can – but does act out in other ways with her. Around the third or fourth day (at least that’s what it seemed like to me) he does take her virginity and none too gently. It seemed it was being cruel on purpose. Afterwards, he left her in the bedroom, alone, bloody and shaken. When she goes to him asking if he was coming back to his room, he tells her NO. He’d gotten what he’d paid for and now he wanted her GONE.

The housekeeper calls a car to take her home and once she there she finds out her father has had a heart attack after learning that the family home has been taken in criminal forfeiture by Gabriel’s company. Avery is livid. She sold her virginity so this wouldn’t happen but Gabriel made it happen anyway. END

Talk about cliffhanger!

I wanted to shake Gabriel by the shoulders for being such a bastard. He was so dark and you get the feeling he likes it just fine that way.

I’m looking for a free copy of the next book, The Knight, because I don’t feel like paying $4.99 for it and the others in there series, but who know, I might cave.

Surrender to Me (Wicked Lovers #4) by Shayla Black

Book Description:

Published: March 1, 2011

Format: Audio/Audible

A secret fantasy.

Hunter had everything until a bullet put his career as a Navy SEAL on hold. Restless and uncertain about his future, he accepts an intriguing proposition: share an acquaintance’s girlfriend and fulfill her fantasy of a ménage. It should have been just a night of sexual adventure between three consenting adults. But Kata is like no other girl Hunter has ever met. By turns audacious and sexy, then vulnerable and aloof, she’s a heartbreaker he’s determined to master. But he needs more than one night. And he wants to do it alone.

An uncontrollable obsession.

Kata never expected to leave her comfortable relationship and explore something so dangerously forbidden with a stranger. Hard as she tries to resist, the guilty pleasure overwhelms her, and she surrenders herself, inch by inch, to the hardcore man who wants her for himself. Consumed by blazing desire, they’re soon threatened by the shadows of the past. And now to keep Kata safe, Hunter makes her a bold proposition of his own. Saying yes will destroy her heart. But saying no could cost Kata her life.

Review –

This is the fourth book in the Wicked Lovers series and I loved the character of Hunter, a hunk of dominant alpha male but Kata did things that just got on my last nerve.

Kata meets Hunter at her birthday party in Vegas and her male friend with benefits has asked Hunter to help make her fantasy of a menage come true. He agrees but soon realizes he wants her all to himself, so he gets the other guy drunk so he can’t take part. Later, neither her or Kata are feeling any pain and on a whim get married.

In the morning she doesn’t remember that part and wants out. Hunter says NOT SO FAST, he can see that she will be a perfect submissive for him. He just has to convince her and he doesn’t have much time. His military medical leave will be up soon.

Hunter is an all-or-nothing kind of guy, so he expected a full surrender from Kata. But Kata just kept resisting and resisting until it just got annoying. I understand her conflicts with her stepfather, who demeaned her mother, and her independent nature, but all her crying and whining started to get to me.

She didn’t want to submit, so she gives Hunter  divorce papers and he said he would sign if she would give him one more romantic night without any BDSM kink (which is what she said she wants) But then she realizes that she doesn’t want that and insist on doing things Hunter’s way. And let me tell you, when she surrenders completely, it’s worth it all for Hunter.

The last few chapters of the book were the best. The sex scenes were somehow hotter, the pace picks up and I just thought it made up for Hunter’s sometimes scary dominance and Kata’s whining.

This was a VERY HOT read. Loved it!

One With You (Crossfire #5) by Sylvia Day

Book Description:

Published: April 5, 2016

Gideon Cross. Falling in love with him was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. It happened instantly. Completely. Irrevocably.

Marrying him was a dream come true. Staying married to him is the fight of my life. Love transforms. Ours is both a refuge from the storm and the most violent of tempests. Two damaged souls entwined as one.

We have bared our deepest, ugliest secrets to one another. Gideon is the mirror that reflects all my flaws … and all the beauty I couldn’t see. He has given me everything. Now, I must prove I can be the rock, the shelter for him that he is for me. Together, we could stand against those who work so viciously to come between us.

But our greatest battle may lie within the very vows that give us strength. Committing to love was only the beginning. Fighting for it will either set us free … or break us apart.

Review –

I must admit that I just love the character of Gideon Cross, he’s even on my list of Book Boyfriends” (I know, nerdy, right?) but this book did not live up to my expectations. Maybe that’s because I listened to it piecemeal, a fragment here, and a fragment there. I listened to many other books before going back to this one.

Gideon and Eva (which he pronounces as Ava) get their “happily ever after” after having overcome old lovers, tell-all-books, rapists coming out of the woodwork, death threats, meddling family, complex relationships, secret babies and  the list can go on and on. Despite this all, Eva and Gideon get what they truly deserve, which is each other.

My favorite part of all of the Crossfire novels has been the sex scenes. The author writes great scenes and compelling dirty talk dialogue between her characters, her sex scenes are exceptionally erotic without the characters having to indulge in props or aids.

Although this was supposedly the last book in the series, there are a couple of things left hanging involving supporting characters so maybe, just maybe Sylvia Day will surprise us someday with Book Six.

She’s managed to mostly avoid him, but now his son and her daughter need their help. Can Caleb and the spirit of the season convince her that she’s ready to take a chance on love again?

Review –

I came across this book while browsing OverDrive and choose it because of the short synopsis even though it was #6.5 in the series.

This is the first contemporary romance I have read or listened to that involved an older man and woman (in their early 50’s) and I found it totally refreshing and hot and steamy at the same time. Why more books aren’t written about this age group, or even older, I don’t know, but I would assume that the demographic  for contemporary/erotic romances are much younger. Maybe I’m in a minority, but  I don’t think so. Adult women of ANY age enjoy this type of book.

Anyway-back to the book.  Caleb is a retired military man and a dominant, who hasn’t had a submission woman for many many years. He has had an interest in Carlotta, the mother-in-law of one of his sons for a couple of years. Carlotta is divorced  and her ex-husband was a complete a**hole and treated her like dirt and made her feel worthless. She doesn’t want another relationship with a controlling man.

A situation comes up where Caleb needs the help of Carlotta so he makes his move and the description of the scene was spot on erotic.  They are interrupted before the sex act itself is done but they do eventually  manage to  come together, so to speak, and again the author does a fantastic job with the dialogue and description. It certainly doesn’t hurt that Caleb is a dominant at heart and talks “dirty” like nobody’s business.

The book also brings together characters from former books and made me want to read or listen to as many as I can find.

If this one is any indication as to the “sexiness” of the others, I can’t wait. (pant pant)
