The Devil’s Claim (Devil’s Kiss #2) by Gemma James

Book Description:

Published: July 1, 2016

Format: Free Digital Book

It’s been a year since Kayla Sutton walked away from Gage Channing. Now he’s back, and so is Ian Kaplan, Kayla’s one-time lover from her college days. Gage’s jealousy is his worst enemy, and when he thinks Kayla has chosen Ian, he sets in motion a drastic plan to claim what’s his. Only Kayla never expects him to infiltrate her heart so effortlessly, and she never dreamed there would come a day when he wouldn’t want her.

Gage believes she’s committed the ultimate sin, but will she use his mistake to finally escape the cage of his obsession? Or will she do whatever it takes to make him see he can entrust his heart to her…just as she’s already lost the core of her being to him?

NOTE TO READERS: THE DEVIL’S CLAIM is a dark romance with a BDSM edge that does NOT conform to safe, sane, and consensual practices. Includes explicit content and subject matter that may offend some readers. Intended for VERY  mature audiences.

Review –

This was offered as a free digital book, so I have not read the first one, but I think I could fill in the blanks enough to see the whole story.

There were some moments when I wanted to kick the shit out of Gage, but then he would “act normal” and I’d like him again. He was so frustrating. Evidently he’s made some changes since the first book, The Devil’s Kiss, according to Kayla. He made changes but HE did not change. He knows what he wants and will not take NO for an answer. He will just do it. Taking away Kayla’s choices once again. Kayla wants that though, I feel. She wants someone who will make the choices for her. Her mind says no, but her wetness tells a very different story. Gage is over controlling, overbearing, over-sexed,over-abusive,  over all everything, but Kayla wants him anyway.

There is a HEA but I don’t intend to read the next book, The Devil’s Wife, to see what happens to the couple because I’m afraid their future isn’t going to be all smooth sailing.

This book is very dark but I hear the first one is much darker so READER, BEWARE.

Fervent (Condemned #3) by Gemma James

Book Description

I never imagined things could get worse, but they do. The men who took us show no mercy. They won’t stop until they’ve destroyed Rafe for something he has no memory of, and I’m their weapon of choice.

Tortured and defiled, they make me wish I was back in that cabin where death was favorable to drawing another breath, but our captors can’t break what’s already broken.

What scares me is the madness I see festering inside Rafe.

I’ve taken his freedom, his career, his reputation, yet despite all I’ve done, he’s determined to fight for me, kill for me, give everything he is for me. He’ll even die for me.

Review –

This is the third in the Condemned Series and Rafe and Alex are taken to an underground (I truly mean UNDERGROUND) sex trafficking ting ran by Jax’s father. There, Alex is beaten and tortured while rafe is made to look on. This is Lucas’s payback for what Rafe did while in prison. After a time, and a couple of failed escape attempts, Jax suceeds in breaking them out, killing men in the process and taking them to a safe secluded cabin. Alex heals, physically, while Jax and Rafe plan to take down Lucas and the sex trafficking ring. Rafe doesn’t want Alex going so he secures her and says he’ll be back.  He and Jax are successful in killing Lucas and calling the cops on the rest of the sex ring, but Rafe decides that he and Alex are just to f***ed up to be together and tells Jax to tell Alex that he was killed in the take-down.  Fade to black.

Torrent (Condemned #1) by Gemma James

Book Description

July 21, 2014

She sent an innocent man to prison. Now, eight years later, he’s returning the favor…

I’ve been obsessed with Rafe Mason since I was thirteen. The twisted part of this story is that I still want him, even now.

Now that he’s holding me captive on an island.

Rafe has his reasons for doing what he’s doing, and if I’m honest, I can’t blame him. I’m the girl who sent him to prison for a heinous crime he didn’t commit.

But now he’s free and the tables have turned…now he’s the one driven by obsession.

Review –
Oh My, Rafe is out for revenge and rightly so.  Alex accused him of raping her when she was fifteen and he was sent away for eight years. Alex’s step-brother was guilty of the rape but threatened to kill Rafe if she told the truth so she lied.
Rafe kidnaps her and holds her in the cellar of his cabin on an island and brutally tortures her, sexually and mentally.
This is a very dark erotic romance and no matter how I tried not to like it, I couldn’t help myself. the characters are complex and the baggage they each bring into the story drag them down even further into darkness. They are both damaged good but find a common ground in the pain they cause each other and a love grows. Alex’s step-brother finds them and beats and shots Rafe and puts Alex in a boat and sets it afloat(she can’t swim and is deathly afraid of water). Rafe survives but has amnesia of the last eight years.
