If You Want Me (The Magister Series #1) by July Hall

Book Description:

Published: November 12, 2016

Format: Free Digital Book

When you make the rules, you don’t need to break them.

That’s me: the one who makes the rules. I’m not a good man…I’m a hard one.

Anyone who gets in my way finds out what it means to defy Charles Magister. Ruthless in the boardroom, keeping an iron grip on everything around me—that’s the only way I know how to live. I get what I want, and since my wife died, absolute power is the only thing I’ve wanted.

Until I saw Sandra Dane. Since the moment I first looked into her blue eyes, watched her beautiful mouth, I’ve wanted something more than power. Now I want her. She’s beautiful. Luscious. Enticing. She sets me on fire, and I want to show her what it means to burn.

But she’s forbidden fruit. She’s too young for me, too innocent, and for God’s sake, she’s dating my nephew. Even I have my limits. Don’t I?

Who am I kidding? I’ve taken what I’ve wanted ever since I took Magister Enterprises away from my own father and made billions with it. I have no limits.

I want Sandra. And I’ll have her, no matter how wrong it is.

After all…I make the rules.

I’ll show the good girl what it’s like to be possessed by a hard man.

Review –

The book didn’t really hook me right of the bat,  but once I got a few chapters in I found that I couldn’t stop reading it. And I love that in addition to the romance between forty something Charles and twenty something Sandra, and the drama that are to be expected, there are some genuinely funny and  embarrassing moments.

The entire storyline is very plausible and never veers off into a situation that would have me rolling my eyes.

While I enjoyed reading this, the first in the series, I don’t know if I want to spend money for the other three because I know that Charles will get Sandra, Charles will lose Sandra and Charles will get Sandra back. That’s always the way it goes.

Very enjoyable read.

Embracing My Submission (The Dom’s of Genesis #1) by Jenna Jacob

Book Description:

Published: October 28, 2012

Format: Free Digital Book

Haunted for years by dreams of a savage, amber eyed Dominant with lips so enticing my soul ached in frustration and lust. None of the Dominants at Genesis, my local BDSM club ever stirred me in such blistering ways. While I tried to fill my submissive desires vicariously through interactions at the club, I attempted to convince myself it was enough. But it wasn’t. My dream Dom made certain I hungered for more. Forced beyond what I could bear, my passion and frustration exploded. I threw in the towel, determined to stop chasing a dream and gave up completely on finding submissive surrender. But fate intervened when two gunshots split the night. Forced to confront my desires and insecurities, I was shocked to realize that my dreams may have held a deeper meaning. Were they compelling me to finally embrace my submission?

Review –

The book is entirely written from the heroine’s perspective.

Julianna was a submissive without a Dom, something that haunted her because she wanted nothing more but to find a good Dom who would claim her as his own. She had a past bad experience, which did not manage to turn her away from the lifestyle, and now she was under the protection of a Dom from a BDSM club she was a member of who was her mentor.

She has had dreams of a man who is meant to be her Dom and all of the dream sequences got on my nerves, I’m sorry, but I loved everything else about the story line.

Julianna and Mika were meant to be, but them getting to the point where they could finally accept that wasn’t exactly easy — Mika was grieving, and Julianna was stubborn, and had decided to give up submission — but I loved every step in their journey. It was emotional, it was hot, it was even fun.

There are other books in the series but I don’t think I’ll read them simply because the blurbs didn’t grab me.

This book however, was HOT!

Love Restored (Gallagher Brothers #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Format: Audio/OverDrive

In the first of a Montgomery Ink spin-off series from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan, a broken man uncovers the truth of what it means to take a second chance with the most unexpected woman…

Graham Gallagher has seen it all. And when tragedy struck, lost it all. He’s been the backbone of his brothers, the one they all rely on in their lives and business. And when it comes to falling in love and creating a life, he knows what it’s like to have it all and watch it crumble. He’s done with looking for another person to warm his bed, but apparently he didn’t learn his lesson because the new piercer at Montgomery Ink tempts him like no other.

Blake Brennen may have been born a trust fund baby, but she’s created a whole new life for herself in the world of ink, piercings, and freedom. Only the ties she’d thought she’d cut long ago aren’t as severed as she’d believed. When she finds Graham constantly in her path, she knows from first glance that he’s the wrong kind of guy for her. Except that Blake excels at making the wrong choice and Graham might be the ultimate temptation for the bad girl she’d thought long-buried.

Review –

I have read the Montgomery Ink series so I was acquainted with the characters that showed up during this, the first of the Gallagher Brothers  books.

Graham Gallagher and his brothers restore houses that are historical landmarks and other properties and he is a dark, brooding, grumpy man with a long beard, a piercing and ink.

Blake Brennen, who has been estranged from her parents since the birth of her daughter, Rowan, ten years ago, is the executor of her family’s estate so she is the contact person  and she and Graham butt heads from the start. They’re both such strong personalities that they are like magnets bouncing off of each other but you know with just one turn they will connect in such away pulling them apart will be a near impossibility. But Blake has a history that haunts her, a history that changed her world, a history that sent her on the run for years, but now she’s back home and forced to face that history while keeping herself and her secrets close to the heart.

Blake works at Montgomery Ink and pierces as well as tattoos so she comes into contact with the Gallagher brothers almost every day because, Jake Gallagher is engaged to Maya Montgomery.

To make a long story short, Graham and his wife (now ex),Candace, lost a child and their marriage didn’t survive. Blake, got pregnant and the father became a drug addict and died and his parents have always blamed her and said they would have the baby taken away from her, so she moves often and tries to keep Rowan a secret.

Blake, discovers that Chris’s parents have found out where she lives and are taking her to court for full custody.

The Gallagher and the Montgomery’s band together and help Blake keep her daughter. There is drama but it all works out.

For a contemporary romance, this one had minimal sex, but it was well written and the chemistry between Graham and Blake was hot.

A great Summer Time read.

Releasing control is relief…

I was warned about men like Brett Maclean.

He was dark and thrilling, intense and controlling. And he captivated me from the very start. He unleashed something inside of me like no other. His bad rep and troubled past drew me to him like gasoline feeding a flame.

With just one taste, I felt the danger in him, the uncontrollable power that left me breathless. The passion consumed me. Fast and hard.

Temptation couldn’t guard my heart. I should have known a man of such raw and wild desires came with competition.

Review –

In this story we have a tall, very handsome alpha bar/club owner that doesn’t do relationships.. and then we have our heroine who is crushing on this alpha…he makes a proposition one night is all…

What I didn’t like is, he was too cocky and  I know these alpha’s mostly are but he was just too friggin much.  Going on and on about how she will forget any other man she’s ever been with if she just gives him this one night…blah, blah, blah. She went from this strong woman to this half nag, half bore, total doormat.

You know the story from here – one night turns into many and they can’t get enough of each other. sex is like their oxygen. They have to have it!  Brett has secrets and dark demons. Painful secrets that are the cause of his behavior. He doesn’t know what love is, never felt it for a woman, until Evvie.
Brett is an alpha male to the core. He domineering, rough in the bedroom and completely sexy, everything you want in your alpha.

Then, surprise, his ex-girlfriends tries and succeeds getting him back only to have him dump her again and go back to Evvie but she has trust issues, especially with a man like Brett who’s had a string of women all his life.

They love each other, but with so many things coming between them, is that love enough?
I won’t tell you how the book ends but I WON’T  be reading the other books in the series because it was just okay and not one that I HAVE to follow up on.

Hotter Than Ever by Lucia Jordan

Book Description:

Format: Free Digital Book

As a corporate lawyer, there isn’t a whole that gets by Hannah, much less the warning signs of a failing relationship. She knows that her four-month-old relationship with Josh Homes is already over, but he breaks down in tears when she tries to break up with him. She’s too sympathetic and can’t stand to see him cry, so she gives him what he wants: a weeklong trip to Friday Harbor to attend his sister’s wedding, during which he hopes to show Hannah that they were meant for each other.

Matthew Homes hasn’t seen his brother Josh in nearly a decade. Their relationship has been stormy since long before Matthew used his share of the family fortune to set up the biggest real-estate conglomerate in the United States, while Josh blew his share on small businesses that failed, leaving him an everyday accountant. But Matthew isn’t just a successful real-estate mogul—he’s also the ultimate dominant, with sinfully tempting looks and the sly prowess and charm of a panther.
When Matthew sees Josh at the wedding, he’s immediately taken aback by the sexy and confident woman he calls his girlfriend.

But will Matthew fall for Josh and Hannah’s act? Will Matthew be able to resist the temptation of Hannah and steer clear of deepening the feud with his brother?

And what will happen when Matthew finds Hannah wandering aimlessly in the middle of the night and becomes overwhelmed with a desire to see her kneeling at his feet?

Review –

A very sexy but very predictable read about two feuding brothers, one light and one dark and the girl who is wanted by both of them.

It was okay but not good enough for me to invest in the rest of the series.

*Side Note:

I hate it when book covers have absolutely nothing to do with the story line – LIKE THIS ONE. Ugh!!!!!!!

Call Me Daddy by Jade West

Book Description:

Published: January 13, 2017

Format: Free Digital Book

I want him to be my first.
I want him to be the one.
I want him to be my everything.

I didn’t expect to spend my eighteenth birthday stranded in the pouring rain with no way to make it home.
I didn’t expect to be rescued from the worst night of my life by the most amazing man I’d ever seen.

His name is Nick, and he says he wants to take care of me, says he’ll look after me, says I don’t need to be alone anymore.

He treats me like a princess, like the fragile little girl he saved from the cold.

But I like him… I like him like that.
I’ve never liked anyone like that before

And it’s weird, this thing we have…
It’s like I can’t decide how we’re supposed to be… what we are…
Until he says the words…

Call me Daddy.

Review –

The only thing I really liked about this book was the cover, but to each his own.

Although I read erotic/contemporary romances, or SMUT as my husband would say, this is the first book I’ve read that dealt with the DDLG relationship, and it was too much for me.

While the story was written tastefully and the sex wasn’t over the top I still found it “icky”( I’m using a word from the book)

Thankfully, for me, the book did end with a more “normal” relationship between Nick and Laine but I still rated it a two on GoodReads.

If you aren’t turned off by the DDLG concept then you should give this one a try, but for me I plan to steer clear of any more like this.

Caged (Caged #1) by D.H. Sidebottom

Published: May 18, 2016

Format: Free Digital Book

Judd Asher was taken from his front garden when he was just four years old. After an extensive search he was never found.
Twenty-one years after a random call out, Judd is found chained and beaten in the basement of an old rundown farmhouse where he has lived the life of an animal for the last twenty-one years.

Kloe Grant is assigned as Judd’s personal therapist. It’s her job to rehabilitate him, to guide him back to normal life. But as Judd’s only emotion is rage, Kloe finds it both heart-breaking and challenging mending a soul that’s not only broken but caged inside him by the demons of his past.

However, when Kloe’s relationship with her patient raises some eyebrows, Kloe can’t fight against the powers that want to see her fail, and with an arm behind her back, she walks away, leaving behind a man who has come to live life again for her.

Four years later Judd, now known as Anderson Cain, the darkest and most formidable cage fighter in a world where violence and crime are the only way to keep breathing, Judd finds there’s not a lot in life that can abate the rage that still twists and prowls beneath his skin.
Not until a chance encounter brings him to her door. To the woman with the bluest eyes and the most stunning smile, the woman who took his hand in the darkness and led him through the door into the sun.
But Kloe Grant left him when he needed her the most. She took the only shred of hope and trust he had left and annihilated it. She starved his belief, and she fed his fury.
She owes him. And he’s going to make sure that this time, she pays. In blood. In lust. In pain. And with her soul.

Review –

This book was not what I thought it would be. I thought it would be another story about the kidnapping of a young boy and his release from captivity twenty-one years later. I thought it would be about his rehabilitation and merging back into society. But it was NOT.

Anderson WAS more than damaged. He was a savage, a sadist, a masochist, insane, and hell-bent on revenge.

We learn that Kloe, the personal therapist, meant to help him, had her demons as well and together they fall to the depths of depravity.

This is absolutely everything you want in a dark erotic novel. Suspense, actual brutality and emotion, intensity and strong characters. Sex scenes so dark and yet so erotic it makes me uneasy at your own reactions. More than anything, this wasn’t just a simple novel focused solely on sex, but a focus on mental health and finding life, consolation and comfort in questionable actions, something to fill the empty void of the two lead characters. The unliveable nature of Anderson in particular was wonderfully troubling, attractive, arrogant, broken and cruel.

There were so many jaw-dropping  moments I didn’t know what to do with myself.

This book will not be for everyone, so be forewarned that it is DARK, very very DARK, with triggers.

I didn’t know going in that this had a sequel but it did and I’m reading it now. HAD to!

Road to Nowhere (Road to Nowhere #1) by M. Robinson

Book Description:

Published: December 6, 2016

Format: E-Book

I once read that every warrior hoped an honorable death would find him. I always went looking for mine, but not even the Reaper wanted me.
I was trained to kill. I was trained to not ask why. To take orders and just march in line. Hooah motherfucker.
Life or death.
Ride or die.
And I’m not only talking about the military. I’m talking about the life that led me on the road to nowhere.
My life.
I fought for my brothers.
I fought for my family.
I fought for my country.
And I fought for her…

Never realizing I might die for them too.

Review –

This book had me feeling several emotions, anxiety, sadness, wariness, and kept me turning pages to the very end.

Creed is a member of a MC club and meets Mia, the kid sister of his best friend. He’s 19 and she’s 9 and she loves him from the minute they meet and over the years she wants him to see her as a “woman” and not a little girl. Creed becomes Vice President of the MC club and the girl he likes, Autumn is killed in the 9/11 bombing and because of that he enlists for four years. Mia grows up but still is too young but she tries to convince Creed whenever he is home on leave. Finally he knows he has to break her heart in order to get her to stay away from  him, for her sake.

Mia is not quite 16 when she goes to MC club party with a girlfriend of hers and meets “Rebel” and she gives him her virginity all the while wished it were Creed. Her first and one time to have sex and she gets pregnant and goes to tell Rebel and finds out he is Creed’s younger brother. Creed finds out and all hell breaks loose.

Everything in this book, it’s just so damn good. The overprotectiveness that Mia had to go through. Her father, a Good Ol’ Boy, not allowing her to truly grow up. The choices she made because of that – I truly felt her frustration, anger and her passion to live. I love how everyone is somehow intertwined in this book. Creed is friends with Mason who is the son another Good Ol’ Boy. It just makes the entire story even more interesting.
The ending. (I won’t say what happens but it’s bad) Holy shit. Seriously?!!? Killing me here! I know it’s with good intentions. But damn, I am dying here. I am seriously sucked into this whole story and I need the rest so badly. The second book in the series comes out later this year and I can’t wait.

Five-star-feedback-on-oDesk

Here is what the author, herself, had to say about this series:

Dear WILDer Readers,

I need to tell you a little story about this series. This is like nothing I’ve published before. It might even be like nothing you’ve ever read before. In fact, it’s so different that I’ve gone back and forth about even publishing it at all for about a year. At one point I did even publish a part and then took it down; yes, it has the potential to be that controversial. Encouraged by my amazing WILD WITH WILDER Facebook reader group, I’ve gained the courage to hit “publish.”

It all started with a conversation with a friend about sexual fantasies, I’m going to call her Jade…Jade London. In talking with her, this story popped into my head inspired by a few of her fantasies and experiences. So just for fun, I started writing THE BLACK ROOM. Now, these stories are told in the voice I had in my head of my friend Jade, so you will notice it might be different from my other work and she is also credited as an author, since she was the inspiration for it. Yes, this series is very explicit, enough so that I would call it more like erotica/suspense with an erotic romance theme. If you have been offended by scenes in Madame X, Alpha, or Stripped I will tell you it’s probably best to skip this series all together. The sex scenes in these books are beyond even my hottest level.

You’ve been warned.

The layout and pricing of this series is also a bit unusual. I really wanted the reader to have to “enter” each door, I wanted you to have to take that step to enter the next room. So, artistically, I knew that having them stand alone as 8 separate doors was important. I also wanted to keep the pricing in line with my other books, and the only way that really made sense for me to do that was to make doors 1, 3, 5 and 7 free. Yes, I realize there are people that might take advantage of that and just skip the other doors. But, if you really want to have a unique and powerful reading experience I suggest reading all of them in order. I am publishing all 8 novellas at once because each one does create a bit of a cliffy, and I didn’t want to leave you hanging.

This series is over 800 pages in my usual print format at nearly 200,000 words, so we made the print edition larger, like my BIG GIRLS omnibus, so we could get it all in if you wanted the full collection in print. I’ll be sure to link that below. Shout out to Okay Creations and Champagne Formatting for a beautiful job on the print edition. It’s a piece of art.

I really do hope that you will take this journey with me into THE BLACK ROOM. It’s a story of a woman’s experiences in fantasies that I felt needed to be told. It’s erotic, emotional, and raw.

In Door One we, the readers, don’t know how the woman became to be in the BLACK ROOM, but neither does she. She can’t remember anything: her name, what she does, how she got there or if she really exists.

In the BLACK ROOM there is a cot and a small side table with a candle that provides the only light. Around the large expanse of the room are eight doors and when she walks through number one (and she feel compelled to do so) she sees a large muscled fighter with a broken nose and scars all over his body.  He binds her with ropes and suspends her from the ceiling and eventually, after a lot of bondage foreplay, they have very rough sex and then he tells her  to  leave because she shouldn’t be there. She doesn’t want to go but knows she has to.

When she arrives back in the BLACK ROOM there are only seven doors, door one has disappeared .(How’s that for eerie?)

Five stars *****
