Crazy Beautiful by Lucia Jordan

Book Description:

Format: Free Digital Book

Valeri Huntington has her dream—a publicist for one of the top firms on the east coast. Nevertheless, she can’t help but feel like something is missing. A long list of men has been left in her wake because they just can’t seem to measure up or she finds a way to rationalize her way out of anything before it gets too serious. The one relationship she did have ended roughly and left her picking up the pieces up of her heart for months. After that breakup, she vowed to throw herself into her work and that’s where she’s been ever since. The night she ran into Dallas McCormick she was left feeling like she’d been hit with a ton of bricks. The reclusive man that lived in the mountains was somewhat of a legend. He’d outright insulted her and pissed her off like no one ever has, and yet, her body burned from a desire that she had no idea even existed.

Like a magnet, she was pulled to him and she had no idea why. Dallas McCormick was not the man everyone created rumors about. However, there is no denying that there is a dark shadow that looms over him, and it’s one that could very well put Valerie in harm’s way.

Review –

This is the first book in the Crazy Beautiful series and although it was good, I don’t plan to read the others. There was a bit of chemistry between Valeri and Dallas but it wasn’t the combustible type and it’s too predictable. Dallas is ex-military and suffers from PTSD and that’s what puts Valeri in harm’s way at the end of the book. The reader knows that everything is going to work out fine in the end so why spend money just to confirm that?

It was a short pleasant read. Great cover though!

Tormented (Fractured #2) by Elle Charles

Book Description:

Published: October 7, 2014

Format: E-Book

Kara Petersen has lived through more than most.

The horrors of her past had shaped her, forcing her to walk through this life relatively alone. Untrusting and guarded, seeking solace in the shadows, she thought she could survive anything that life threw at her.

And she did…

Until him…

Sloan Foster.

He brought her out of the darkness and into the light. He gave her a life she could never have imagined. She fell in love with him, but when faced with controversy, just like everyone else, he let her down.

He broke her heart.

She was complacent.

She was foolish.

Except, it wasn’t her love for him that was foolish, it was believing she could escape pain.

In a bid to end her suffering for one night only, she unknowingly walked into the path of evil.

Enduring the devastation of having to remember the night of her abduction, she must decide if she is willing to risk possibly having her heart-broken again in order to find out the truth.

Can she really give all her love to a man who has the ability to obliterate her completely?

Taking a leap of faith, she vows to trust him, regardless of how imprudent it may transpire be.

Falling further into his outwardly perfect world for a second time, Kara is, once again, treading a path she fears will eventually destroy her.

As truths finally unfold and decade old secrets are revealed, it’s clear the past has never been too far behind and binds her to others in ways unimaginable.

Together, she discovers their love is tormented.

Warning:
Please note, this is a dark erotic romance. It contains descriptive sexual scenes, violence and other serious adult content. It is suitable for readers aged 18 and over only. Due to the subject matter of this novel, it is not recommended for those who are easily offended or of a sensitive disposition. Also, there are many triggers.

Review –

This book takes up immediately where the first one left off.

Kara has been kidnapped and physically tortured for days by Deacon, whom we find out later was the one who raped and beat her repeatedly when she was a teen. She is rescued by her girlfriend, Sam, and stays in the hospital for over a week.

Sloan is besides himself seeing Kara in that condition again. He was the one who rescued her when she was fifteen.

Kara does go back to Sloan and gives him a second chance but since there in a third book in the series, I knew more bad things were going to happen.

There are many twists and turns in this book and the story becomes a bit convoluted. Kara is made privy to some secrets of her past and the role that Sloan and his friends played.

Near the end of the book, Kara is again kidnapped by Deacon and horribly abused and again is rescued, this time by Jeremy (who I wouldn’t trust if my life depended on it). She convinces him that she can’t go back to Sloan looking the way she does(this time Deacon had cut her all over with a knife) and so she goes to another town and assumes a new identity . END.

This book bothered me because there were so many things Kara could have done to protect herself from Deacon and the other bad guys, instead it seems she went where they were. She was just stupid.

I hope the last book Liberated is better.

Fractured (Fractured #1) by Elle Charles

Book Description:

Published: May 7, 2014

Format: Free Digital Book

Kara Petersen’s life is virtually non-existent. Haunted by memories of the past, and events she cannot accurately remember, she is living half a life inside a world she has purposely created to shield herself from pain.

She is invisible, until one fateful night changes everything – she meets the handsome, enigmatic and very mysterious, Sloan Foster.

Successful, powerful and knowing exactly what he wants, she is inexplicably drawn to him.

Tired of fighting against the foreign emotions he has invoked inside her, she takes a fortuitous leap of faith. Conceding his temptation is too strong to resist, she falls deeper into his world of seduction, wealth and power.

Against her own better judgement, and recognising something isn’t quite right in this rich playboy’s domain, Kara is learning more about herself than she ever thought possible, from a man who seemingly knows more than he should.

A dark, engaging and provocative read that will stay with you long after you put it down.

WARNING: This novel contains serious adult content and descriptive sexual scenes. Intended for readers aged 18+

Review –

I just finished this book and all I can say is “Good God!”

The story line is not new – Young girl, sexually abused for many years to pay off the drug debts of her father is rescued by a stranger and lives to become a strong woman after being taken in by a kind woman. When the young woman is twenty-three a billionaire takes an interest in her and tries to control her every move. He is damaged too, but we don’t know why, and together they TRY to have a relationship but things get in the way and finally someone tells him lies about Kara that he believes and he throws her out of his home.  She moves in with the kind woman, now her boss, and her old girl friend, who is a prostitute, along with an evil  man named Deacon meet her at the door and he beats her horribly and abducts her. END

I knew that Kara and Sloan were destined to fail because this is Book One in a series and writers gonna write. The author has to give you a reason to go one to the second, third and final books.

It wasn’t said in this book but I have a feeling that Sloan is the man who rescued Kara when she was fifteen and might have even known her before that. We don’t know what exactly he does but some call him “dangerous” so I can hardly wait to start the second book as soon as I post this.

There are several triggers in this book and the top two are ABDUCTION and PHYSICAL ABUSE, so if you have trouble in those areas, stay away from this series.

Hotter Than Ever by Lucia Jordan

Book Description:

Published: February 14, 2017

Format: Free Digital Book

As a corporate lawyer, there isn’t a whole that gets by Hannah, much less the warning signs of a failing relationship. She knows that her four-month-old relationship with Josh Homes is already over, but he breaks down in tears when she tries to break up with him. She’s too sympathetic and can’t stand to see him cry, so she gives him what he wants: a weeklong trip to Friday Harbor to attend his sister’s wedding, during which he hopes to show Hannah that they were meant for each other.

Matthew Homes hasn’t seen his brother Josh in nearly a decade. Their relationship has been stormy since long before Matthew used his share of the family fortune to set up the biggest real-estate conglomerate in the United States, while Josh blew his share on small businesses that failed, leaving him an everyday accountant. But Matthew isn’t just a successful real-estate mogul—he’s also the ultimate dominant, with sinfully tempting looks and the sly prowess and charm of a panther.
When Matthew sees Josh at the wedding, he’s immediately taken aback by the sexy and confident woman he calls his girlfriend.

But will Matthew fall for Josh and Hannah’s act? Will Matthew be able to resist the temptation of Hannah and steer clear of deepening the feud with his brother?

And what will happen when Matthew finds Hannah wandering aimlessly in the middle of the night and becomes overwhelmed with a desire to see her kneeling at his feet?

Review –

A very sexy but very predictable read about two feuding brothers, one light and one dark and the girl who is wanted by both of them.

It was okay but not good enough for me to invest in the rest of the series.

*Side Note:

I hate it when book covers have absolutely nothing to do with the story line – LIKE THIS ONE. Ugh!!!!!!!

Separation Games (The Games Duet#2) by C.D. Reiss

Book Description:

Published: January 3, 2017

Format: Audio/Audible

These are the unbreakable rules in the game.
Stay collected. Compartmentalize. Think your next move through. Never let your heart dictate your tactics.

The heart is impulsive.
The heart makes bad decisions.
The heart doesn’t see the long game.

Because the heart may have decided to get Adam back, but when the endgame comes, the heart’s going to be the first thing to break.

Review –

This book takes up where the other left off.

Adam  has discovered that by breaking Diana sexually and making her submit to him, he now doesn’t love her in the same way. He has never been able to love a submissive.

The tables have turned and now Diana is the one trying to put their marriage back together and Adam is the one walking away.

This installment is mostly told from Diana’s point of view. I felt for her on so many levels, her desire to get back what was once hers and now out of her reach. I felt her pain, but I also felt how strong she was and how determined she was to put it all on the line in order to finish the game she started. Only Adam and his sadistic dominance could satisfy her and she HAS to get him back.

Towards the end of the book we get to see things from Adam’s POV and see what was hiding in his heart and thoughts and once again he held his position of perfection. A man who is out to right his wrongs once and for all no matter the costs. I simply adore EVERYTHING about him.

Adam tries to use sex to keep Diana at arm’s length while Diana uses sex to communicate where her words fail. The sex (and there’s a lot of it) is electric, inventive and off the charts HOT, and you will  never look at LEGOS the same way again.

The end of Adam and Diana’s journey is almost like a drop after sub space as you process everything. Aftercare is a must!

And I can’t explain with enough words how great this was and how happy the development through the whole book made me and those few last chapters in particular * SWOON*

Mr. O by Lauren Blakely

Book Description:

Published: May 2, 2016

Format: Audio/Audible

Just call me Mister O. Because YOUR pleasure is my super power.

Making a woman feel ‘oh-god-that’s-good’ is the name of the game, and if a man can’t get the job done, he should get the hell out of the bedroom. I’m talking toe-curling, mind-blowing, sheet-grabbing ecstasy. Like I provide every time.

I suppose that makes me a superhero of pleasure, and my mission is to always deliver.

But then I’m thrown for a loop when a certain woman asks me to teach her everything about how to win a man. The only problem? She’s my best friend’s sister, but she’s far too tempting to resist–especially when I learn that sweet, sexy Harper, has a dirty mind too and wants to put it to good use. What could possibly go wrong as I give the woman I’ve secretly wanted some no-strings-attached lessons in seduction?

No one will know, even if we send a few dirty sexts. Okay, a few hundred. Or if the zipper on her dress gets stuck. Not on that! Or if she gives me those f*&k-me-eyes on the train in front of her whole family.

The trouble is the more nights I spend with her in bed, the more days I want to spend with her out of bed. And for the first time ever, I’m not only thinking about how to make a woman cry out in pleasure –I’m thinking about how to keep her in my arms for a long time to come.

Looks like the real Adventures of Mister Orgasm have only just begun….

**MISTER O is a standalone romantic comedy and it follows supporting characters first introduced in BIG ROCK** (Which I have not read)

Review –

“They say men have sex on the brain 99.99 percent of the time. You’re not going to catch me trying to dispute that…In my case, though-and I suppose, in my defense-sex is part of my job.”

Well, heck, Lauren Blakely, when your main man opens with this statement, where can things go but up?

The author  has artfully delivered another wonderful friends-to-lovers story, complete with characters that I wish I could actually spend time with, sizzling chemistry and a feisty cat named Fido.

Nick Hammer (yes, that’s his real name, thank you very much), cartoonist extraordinaire, and master of giving women orgasms beyond description,  has fallen for the sister of his best friend and he knows that’s taboo.

But, when red-headed Harper, a magician by trade, asks him for help in the dating department he can’t say “No” and as time goes by and he developed more than sexual cravings for her, he knows he’s done for.

Fantastic book, sexual tension with humor thrown in. Perfect!!!!

I have not read or listened to BIG ROCK, but I’m thinking I’ll have to add it to my SBTBR list. (Smutty Books To Be Read)

Because once he possessed her, he owned her and it would be too late to turn back. She can only pray that he doesn’t destroy her in the end.

Review –

Mastered is the first novel–and an emotional roller coaster–in a new erotic series by the very talented Maya Banks. If you’re a fan of really getting into a character’s mind while going on a journey of the heart, I think Drake and Evangeline will have you intrigued.

Evangeline  was unsure of herself, doubted her good looks and her  sex appeal, but knew she was a loyal friend and would protect those she loved. Drake started off all bad-ass alpha so it was a rocky beginning, but he turned out to be such a tortured character.

In the book we spend a lot of time  in Drake and Evangeline’s heads. This had a big psychological element to the plot, both with how the main characters evolved and with how they were becoming accustomed to their Dominant/submissive relationship. Drake realizes that “his angel” isn’t like any of the other women he has had before. She doesn’t want gifts of jewelry, money, or expensive clothes. All she wants is his trust and his time. Evangeline is naive and has no clue of Drake’s “other” business, aside from the sex club and he means to keep it that way.

What he has to do at the end is horrible for both of them, but especially Evangeline. All the faith, trust and respect that Drake had given her is forever shattered.

The book ends with a cliffhanger but I’m lucky enough to have it queued up and will be listening to it very soon.

Fantastic book with great, completely believable characters and VERY hot sex scenes.

Call Me Daddy by Jade West

Book Description:

Published: January 13, 2017

Format: Free Digital Book

I want him to be my first.
I want him to be the one.
I want him to be my everything.

I didn’t expect to spend my eighteenth birthday stranded in the pouring rain with no way to make it home.
I didn’t expect to be rescued from the worst night of my life by the most amazing man I’d ever seen.

His name is Nick, and he says he wants to take care of me, says he’ll look after me, says I don’t need to be alone anymore.

He treats me like a princess, like the fragile little girl he saved from the cold.

But I like him… I like him like that.
I’ve never liked anyone like that before

And it’s weird, this thing we have…
It’s like I can’t decide how we’re supposed to be… what we are…
Until he says the words…

Call me Daddy.

Review –

The only thing I really liked about this book was the cover, but to each his own.

Although I read erotic/contemporary romances, or SMUT as my husband would say, this is the first book I’ve read that dealt with the DDLG relationship, and it was too much for me.

While the story was written tastefully and the sex wasn’t over the top I still found it “icky”( I’m using a word from the book)

Thankfully, for me, the book did end with a more “normal” relationship between Nick and Laine but I still rated it a two on GoodReads.

If you aren’t turned off by the DDLG concept then you should give this one a try, but for me I plan to steer clear of any more like this.

With You (Torn Asunder #0.5) by Nashoda Rose

Book Description:

Published: December 20, 2013

Format: Free Digital Book/Second Reading

Sculpt is an illegal fighter.

He’s also the lead singer of a local rock band.

No one knows his real name.

And from the moment I met him, he made me forget mine.

In order to convince Sculpt to give me self-defense lessons, I had to follow his one rule—no complaining or he’d walk. I didn’t think it would be a problem. I could handle a few bruises. What I hadn’t anticipated was landing on my back with Sculpt on top of me and my entire body burning up for him.

I tried to ignore it.

I failed of course. And having a hot, tattooed badass on top of me week after week, acting completely immune to what he was doing to my body—it was frustrating as hell, so I broke his rule—I complained.

Then he kissed me.

Author’s Note: This novella is Sculpt and Emily’s beginning and how they met. It is an extra and not required to be read before “Torn from You”. Their story and what happens to them is the novel “Torn from You”.

Review –

I first read this book in January 2014 and loved it then and now that I have read more erotic romances/contemporary romances and have a better understanding as to what makes up a great ER/CR I love it even more.

Sculpt, whose real name is Logan, is an MMA fighter and a member of the rock band, Torn Asunder. Emily wants to learn some self-defense moves and choose Sculpt to be her teacher. For five weeks he teaches her what she needs to know and doesn’t make a sexual move on her, but then he does and everything changes.

Emily has never had a boy/man pay attention to her as Sculpt does or treat her the way he does. She gave him her virginity and he tells her he love her and that she belongs to him and the next thing she knows she’s kidnapped and being tortured and sexually humiliated in a dirty basement. END

Hows that for a CLIFFHANGER ?

In the next book, Torn From You, we find out that Sculpt/Logan is working for a human trafficking/sex slave ring in Mexico and it’s his job to break and train the women as submissives so they can be put on the auction block. Raul, the boss, allows Sculpt to keep Emily as long as he wins MMA fights. Emily can’t wrap her head around the fact that he used her the long time and now is responsible for her torture and sexual abuse.

The series is well worth reading and though the mood is very dark and things look seemingly inescapable Logan and Emily do get their HEA at the end.

This is a great ER/CR series.

When Day Breaks (KGI #9) by Maya Banks

Book Description:

Published: June 24, 2014

Format: Audio/OverDrive

The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super-elite, top secret, family-run business.
Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background.
Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering. Handling jobs the U.S. government can’t…

Eden is said to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. Her face has graced countless magazines and her body has sold millions of dollars of clothing. But her fame and beauty has earned her more than she ever imagined. Evil is stalking her, determined to extinguish the ethereal beauty forever.

Swanson or “Swanny” as his teammates call him is always up for the next mission. He came back from Afghanistan wounded and scarred. Hardly the kind of man who even belongs in the same room with Eden. And yet there’s something about the quiet beauty that stirs his blood and makes him dream of the impossible. Because Beauty loving the beast only happens in fairy tales and KGI doesn’t deal in fairy tales. Ever.

Review –

I usually make it a point not to start a series in the middle, you know, not read 1-8 and start with number 9. Well, that’s exactly what happened with this book. I found it on OverDrive when looking for something to listen to and thought it might like the author’s other books, which I’ve enjoyed.

I could tell right from the beginning that not reading the previous books in the series caused me to miss out on all the why and wherefores and how KGI came to be in the first place. I’m imagining that each book deals with a member of the KGI team and so the names in this book didn’t really mean anything to me.

That being said, the love interests in this book, Swanny and Eden were too different and from completely opposing worlds and there was no chemistry between them at all. When they “fell in love” (which was instantly) they were too syrupy sweet. Made me gag.

The crime fiction part of the story line was at least believable but boring. Maybe if i had read the previous books I would have been more invested but I don’t plan on reading or listening to any more in this series. For me, one was enough .
