Incandescent (Knights Rebels MC #1) by River Savage

Book Description:

Published: August 9, 2014

Format: Audio/Audible

Phoenix ‘Nix’ Knight thought pulling his club out of the illegal shit his Pops got them into was difficult.

Until he meets Kadence.

Kadence Turner has no business lusting over a student’s father, especially the president of the Knights Rebels MC. Nix is crass, obnoxious and dangerously sexy and for some reason, Kadence can’t seem to hate him for it. The bossy biker breaks down her defenses, but unlike the old Kadence, the woman she is today won’t give in without a fight.

The tension is undeniable, the attraction fierce. A man that wants what he wants and a woman that will fight him every step of the way.

Review –

Kadence Turner had a rough relationship three years ago that left her scarred (literally, she was involved in a fire) and hurt and unable to open up to people, but now she is finally taking control of her life again and facing her future as a new single woman. Kadence is not a people’s person and she is shy (although sassy and witty too) and would rather stay in and read a book than go out to bars.

But this all changes when she meets Nix. Phoenix Knight is the President of the Knights Rebels MC and father of Zayden, one of Kadence’s students. When the kid gets in trouble and Miss Turner organizes a reunion with the parents of the two kids who were part of the fight Nix comes in the room all scary and hot and Kadence can’t help but feel interested in him.

What starts as a fun chase and a one-night stand ends up to become so much more, because Nix is capable of making her feel alive again and not ashamed of anything that has happened to her in the past. She is to him, the strongest woman he knows.

But of course, things couldn’t be so easy. In the middle of the love story we have to deal with not only one, but two crazy exes, although luckily only one of them is dangerous, the other is just a bitch and a terrible mother. I don’t want to spoil the end so I’m just going to say that Kadence’s life is in danger a couple of times, but everything turns out alright.

If you aren’t into seriously hot sex scenes with glorious dirty banter, then you should find yourself another book. But, if that lights your fire, grab a copy and clear your schedule!

****GRAPHIC LANGUAGE AND ADULT SITUATIONS****

Jonathan Drazen. Gorgeous. Charming. Smart. Rich.
All the ingredients for a few nights of mind-blowing pleasure are right there. He’s made it perfectly clear he can’t love me, and I’m not out to fall in love either.
But I can’t stay away from him. He’s got this bossy way about him in bed. The word “Sir,” falls from my lips, and when he tells me to get on my knees…well, my knees have a mind of their own.
I got this. I can be his slave for a few nights and walk away unscathed.
We get in. Get it on. Get the hell out. Done.
He knows the line between love and lust. It’s right between my legs.
Now, let’s see if that line blurs for me.

Review –

Jonathan Drazen tops my list of favorite book boyfriends, favorite sadists, and all-time favorite men. I want him all to myself. Rich, witty, brilliant, gorgeous, and a demon in the bedroom – oh yes, Jonathan Drazen is the ultimate hero. Monica Faulkner could not be any more kick ass if she tried. Her attraction to Drazen, her voice, her honesty, her looks, her morals, her self-preservation all contribute to a neatly yet chaotic wrapped package of beauty in a heroine. Add to these brilliant characters the non-stop, intriguing plots of the story, secondary characters who make their tale even better, and scorching, sizzling, smoking sex scenes made unable to put these books down. The writing of CD Reiss pulls you in from the very first sentence and she continually gives more and more to the reader as the story moves forward. Her books are addicting, smart, brilliantly written, and a gift to readers. I’m so happy I’ve discovered this series, and this unforgettable couple.

On to Book Two.

One With You (Crossfire #5) by Sylvia Day

Book Description:

Published: April 5, 2016

Format: Audio/Audible

Gideon Cross. Falling in love with him was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. It happened instantly. Completely. Irrevocably.

Marrying him was a dream come true. Staying married to him is the fight of my life. Love transforms. Ours is both a refuge from the storm and the most violent of tempests. Two damaged souls entwined as one.

We have bared our deepest, ugliest secrets to one another. Gideon is the mirror that reflects all my flaws … and all the beauty I couldn’t see. He has given me everything. Now, I must prove I can be the rock, the shelter for him that he is for me. Together, we could stand against those who work so viciously to come between us.

But our greatest battle may lie within the very vows that give us strength. Committing to love was only the beginning. Fighting for it will either set us free … or break us apart.

Review –

I must admit that I just love the character of Gideon Cross, he’s even on my list of Book Boyfriends” (I know, nerdy, right?) but this book did not live up to my expectations. Maybe that’s because I listened to it piecemeal, a fragment here, and a fragment there. I listened to many other books before going back to this one.

Gideon and Eva (which he pronounces as Ava) get their “happily ever after” after having overcome old lovers, tell-all-books, rapists coming out of the woodwork, death threats, meddling family, complex relationships, secret babies and  the list can go on and on. Despite this all, Eva and Gideon get what they truly deserve, which is each other.

My favorite part of all of the Crossfire novels has been the sex scenes. The author writes great scenes and compelling dirty talk dialogue between her characters, her sex scenes are exceptionally erotic without the characters having to indulge in props or aids.

Although this was supposedly the last book in the series, there are a couple of things left hanging involving supporting characters so maybe, just maybe Sylvia Day will surprise us someday with Book Six.

Wicked All the Way (Wicked Lovers #6.5) by Shayla Black

Book Description:

He’s trying to capture a woman with a broken heart. Having lost at love once, he understands being gun shy. The residual fears from Carlotta Buckley’s nasty divorce have stood between them, but he’s done with that. And he’s got the perfect strategy to lure her in…

Carlotta never thought she’d fall in love again. Once bitten, she’s now more than twice shy. And Caleb is everything she can’t handle—fierce, relentless, uncompromising…sexual. She’s managed to mostly avoid him, but now his son and her daughter need their help. Can Caleb and the spirit of the season convince her that she’s ready to take a chance on love again?

Review –

I came across this book while browsing OverDrive and choose it because of the short synopsis even though it was #6.5 in the series.

This is the first contemporary romance I have read or listened to that involved an older man and woman (in their early 50’s) and I found it totally refreshing and hot and steamy at the same time. Why more books aren’t written about this age group, or even older, I don’t know, but I would assume that the demographic  for contemporary/erotic romances are much younger. Maybe I’m in a minority, but  I don’t think so. Adult women of ANY age enjoy this type of book.

Anyway-back to the book.  Caleb is a retired military man and a dominant, who hasn’t had a submission woman for many many years. He has had an interest in Carlotta, the mother-in-law of one of his sons for a couple of years. Carlotta is divorced  and her ex-husband was a complete a**hole and treated her like dirt and made her feel worthless. She doesn’t want another relationship with a controlling man.

A situation comes up where Caleb needs the help of Carlotta so he makes his move and the description of the scene was spot on erotic.  They are interrupted before the sex act itself is done but they do eventually  manage to  come together, so to speak, and again the author does a fantastic job with the dialogue and description. It certainly doesn’t hurt that Caleb is a dominant at heart and talks “dirty” like nobody’s business.

The book also brings together characters from former books and made me want to read or listen to as many as I can find.

If this one is any indication as to the “sexiness” of the others, I can’t wait. (pant pant)

Hammer has buried his lust for Raine for years. After rescuing the budding runaway from an alley behind his exclusive BDSM Dungeon, he has come to covet the pretty submissive. But tragedy has taught him that he can never be what she needs. So he watches over her while struggling to keep his distance.Liam’s crafty plan blindsides Hammer, especially when he sees how determined his friend is to possess Raine for his own. Hammer isn’t ready to give the lovely submissive over to any other Dom, but can he heal from his past and fight for her? Or will he lose Raine if she truly gives herself—heart, body, and soul—to Liam?

Review –

Loved this book, the first in The Doms of Her Life series, because it has it all!

  • A love triangle that wasn’t meant to be.
  • The roughness in manner and love-making of Macen Hammer.
  • The smoothness and softness in manner in love-making of Liam O’Neill.
  • The innocence of Raine.
  • The hottest sex scenes I’ve read in a long time and all the DIRTY TALK.

If these things appeal to you, don’t delay in reading this book.

I am in the midst of many other books right now, but as soon as possible I will definitely read the next book in this hot series.

Magnificent Bastard by Lili Valente

Book Description:

Published: April 25, 2016

F*ck Prince Charming. Sometimes, you need a Magnificent Bastard.

Face it, ladies: love sucks and then you cry…while your ex rides off into the sunset banging your best friend.

But why let a break-up end in tears when it can end with sweet revenge? Enter Magnificent Bastard Consulting and me, chief executive bastard. I’ve got it all—looks, brains, a heart of gold, and the killer instinct guaran-damn-teed to make your ex regret the day he said goodbye.

With the help of my virtual assistant, I’ve built an empire giving broken-hearted women the vengeance they deserve, while keeping myself far from the front lines of the heart. Life is a bowl of cherries, until my virtual assistant shows up on my real doorstep for the first time, begging for a Magnificent Bastard intervention of her own.

Damn… She’s a bona fide sex kitten.

I pride myself on being a true pro, but pretending to be her lover soon leads to giving it to her good, hard, fast, and up against the wall. And somewhere between getting balls deep in my sweet and sexy assistant and watching her ex beg for a second chance, I break every last one of my damn rules—professional and personal.

So what’s my next move? Fight for the girl who makes me want to get up on a white horse and ride to her rescue, or stay a Magnificent Bastard to the end?

Warning: MAGNIFICENT BASTARD is a stand-alone erotic romance told from the
hero’s point of view. No cliffhanger. Lots of dirty talk.

Review –

The blurb above says it all. The boss-assistant romance. So. Much. Fun.

My favorite things about this story were the humor and the hot, hot, hot sex scenes.

“I’m happy to strip you bare right here. Right now. Lift you up on this counter and f**k you until you come so hard you see Jesus.”
“I’m Jewish,” she murmurs, swallowing hard.”

I usually don’t read erotic romances with humor because few authors fail to pull it off, but Lili Valente  gets an A+!

If you like the boss-assistant trope wrapped in a sexy and humorous story, Magnificent Bastard should be on your list.

Great read.

Five-star-feedback-on-oDesk

Darkly warped  doesn’t even begin to describe the relationships, the storyline, the characters and the plot in this brilliant piece of writing. It is very dark, even uncomfortable at times, unbelievably  hot other times, and with a relationship that is unconventional.

The story is not what is appears to be when you start reading but you don’t find this out until almost the end. It deals with the online porn industry and is definitely for mature readers. It is suspenseful, dramatic, tragically sad (in parts) and sexy as hell, in a semi-gross way.

If you start this book-see it through to the end. You won’t be sorry.

Five stars *****

He’ll do whatever it takes to get her against the boards…

Sidelined by a potentially career-ending injury, the only thing hockey player Ryan Douglas should be thinking about is recovery. Chloe Jacobs is done with fairytales. And men. She’s kissed her share of frogs and what’s it gotten her? Dumped by text–again. Determined to eighty-six illusions of romance and prove she’s more than just a good-time girl, the last thing she needs is a pushy, arrogant hockey player testing her resolve. Ryan wants to play ? Fine by her, but this is one faceoff he’s going to lose.

Review –

This was offered as a free digital book this morning and the blurb was promising so I gave it a try. (Very glad I did!)

Even though it is an erotic romance or contemporary romance, whichever term you’re more comfortable with, there is a real story hidden amongst the steamy hot sex scenes. What I really liked about this story was some of the dialogue between the two main characters because it was DIRTY and sexy as hell. For me explicit sex scenes can get a bit redundant and on the same old same old side but DIRTY talk livens up any conversation.

I read this book in one sitting and my nerve endings were all tingling by the time I was done.

Fantastic job done by the author.  Hats off to Jennifer Bonds.

Reflected In You (Crossfire #2) by Sylvia Day

Book Description:

Published: October 23, 2012

Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn’t stay away. I didn’t want to. He was my addiction… my every desire… mine.

My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful… except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity.

We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession…

Review –

We rejoin Gideon and Eva (Gideon pronounces it Ava) right where we left them at the end of the first book and the story springs into life immediately and takes you on one of the most emotional and exhausting journeys you’re ever likely to see in erotic fiction. Never was the expression ‘Love Hurts’ more appropriate.

Eva and Gideon are in so deep with each other they are practically drowning. They complete each other but their traumatic pasts cast a lengthy shadow over their lives today and nothing is ever going to be easy for them. Eva is still wearing her heart on her sleeve, spilling her secrets to Gideon, telling him she loves him. Gideon is still holding everything back and just demanding that he trust her but she’s not sure she can and his reticence is causing her to lash out and inflict pain in retaliation.

Gideon and Eva are  jealous, obsessive, possessive and very alike and it makes for an explosive relationship both in the bedroom and out. They can’t live with each other  and yet neither one can survive without the other.

I loves this couple and I hate what they do to each other.  Gideon is so secretive about a lot of things, some of them so insignificant that I think he holds back on purpose, but he also has abusive past and nightmares that he will not share with Eva and this causes her to doubt him. He also sees ex-girlfriends and doesn’t tell her  and that just about puts her over the edge. Eva believes that without Gideon and his attention she is worthless (low self esteem much?)  and it’s this that I just can’t stand.  I want to grab her by the shoulder and shake her and tell her that no matter no earth moving, sun blinding, red-hot on fire the sex is-it’s not worth it.  But, she just keeps on apologizing to him for being jealous and he keeps being secretive.

Cary, her bi roommate, gets beaten severely outside of a club and later Eva finds out it’s partly because of her and she believes Gideon is seeing Corrine behind her back and lying about it so she breaks up with him. Drama, drama, drama. Don’t get me wrong I love the series as a whole but I just wish Eva had more of a backbone.

Can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment. I hope Eva is a bit less whiny.
