The Club (The Club #1) by Lauren Rowe

Book Description:

Published: January 4, 2015

When playboy businessman Jonas Faraday receives a private note from the anonymous intake agent assigned to process his online application to an exclusive club, he becomes obsessed with finding her and giving her the satisfaction she claims has always eluded her, in order to fulfill his own desperate need for redemption. Sarah: “When I read Jonas Faraday’s brutally honest personal message on his application to The Club, I practically climaxed at my desk. I’m an idiot to risk losing my job but I couldn’t resist contacting him. I knew my confession would be like dangling an irresistible carrot in front of his nose—but never in a million years did I think he’d actually hunt me down.” Jonas:”I was shocked to get my intake agent’s email—I’d attached that note to my application on a whim, never expecting a reply from an actual person, let alone a reply as mind blowing as that. Her message was so alluring, so irresistible, I’ve been spiraling into a full-blown obsession ever since I got it. What’s her name? What does she look like? Finding her is my top priority.” In The Club, what starts out as an innocent exploration of attraction quickly spirals into a steamy story of unbridled passion, obsession, heartbreak, and, ultimately, redemption.

**Contains graphic adult content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+

Review –

When Jonas Faraday sent in his application for membership in THE CLUB little did he know that it would lead to an obsession with his “Beautiful Intake Agent” and lead them both on a whirlwind, sex-filled relationship that results in danger for Sarah.

It’s a wonderful storyline about two people with hang-ups. His being trust and hers being sexual. I was finally glad to read a story about a woman who has never had an orgasm because ever other erotica story has the female climaxing multiple times at the drop of a hat. That is not real life.

Great read and I look forward to reading the next one in the series.

You can always depend on author, Nora Roberts, to provide reading entertainment with a good plot, engaging characters, romance, and danger while teaching us something about the growing of grapes and the making of wine.  I enjoyed it very much.

Review –

I don’t know how many of you have seen the movie DOUBLE INDEMNITY, but there is

a character named WALTER NEFF, who was an insurance salesman and falls head over heels for

BARBARA STANWYKE’S character. The author used the NEFF name and made the character

shamus(PI). So much fun.

Josiah has her hands full in this installment as the man who threw her over a cliff is a free man and is coming after her again. Poor Josiah, will she ever find happiness?  Keep reading this series and find out.

In Poison Princess, New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole introduces a dark and intriguing world, full of unspeakable danger and irresistible romance.

Review –

I rated this book five stars ***** because the characters were mesmerizing and the chemistry between Evie and Jack was almost combustible. The story itself is a dramatic post-apocalytic  tale involving an ancient prophesy based on Tarot cards and a romance so hot it will burn your fingers turning the pages. Even though it is Young Adult literature, the story will be enjoyed by those of any age.

If you want to start a new series I HIGHLY recommend The Arcana Chronicles.

An all-new series from the masterful, #1 New York Times bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater!

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive. Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them-not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble. But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all-family money, good looks, devoted friends-but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys.
Review –
I listened to this book on my Ipad and fell in love with the characters and the storyline, so much so that I wanted more when it ended. If only all authors could write with the same passion. Oh well. I have not as yet read or listened to the second in the series but I’m hopping to find the audio version and that the same narrator reads it.  A narrator can make or break a book and the one that reade The Raven Boys did an excellent job.
This is definitely a good series to start if you like paranormal YA literature.

But when they learn its fate, each faces a sudden, wrenching choice. Save their love, or save the past?
Review –
This is a story involving time travel. From the past to the future and back again and then from the future to the past and back again.  Sounds too good to be true-yup, things do not always go smoothly and add in a love story, maybe one-sided but maybe not and you have a wonderful, fast read, perfect for any warm weather day.  I loved it.

8667848

Book Description

Release date: December 27, 2011 | Series: All Souls Trilogy (Book 1)

“A wonderfully imaginative grown-up fantasy with all the magic of Harry Potter and Twilight.” –People

In a sparkling debut, A Discovery of Witches became the “it” book of early 2011, bringing Deborah Harkness into the spotlight and galvanizing fans around the world. In this tale of passion and obsession, Diana Bishop, a young scholar and the descendant of witches, discovers a long-lost and enchanted alchemical manuscript deep in Oxford’s Bodleian Library. Its reappearance summons a fantastical underworld, which she navigates with her leading man, vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont. Harkness has created a universe to rival those of Anne Rice, Diana Gabaldon, and Elizabeth Kostova, and she adds a scholar’s depth to this riveting story of magic and suspense. And the story continues in Book Two, Shadow of Night.

Review –

*****

This book portrays, Witches, Vampires and Daemons in a completely different light  which is refreshing and key to the plot.  The characters are wonderfully described and interaction between Matthew and Diana is a breath of fresh air. Also, I thought the sexiness of Matthew was written with just enough of an edge as not to overdo and I can see why Diana fell for him even though it was taboo.

I hadn’t realized it was the first of a trilogy but by the last few chapters I was hoping for a continuation and once I looked at the author’s website I was thrilled to find the second book was available and can’t wait to read it.

This is my second book of the year to get a FIVE STAR rating.  *****

Review –
It’s not your typical Zombie book but if you are a fan of Zombies you really need to read it.  I was hooked from the first few pages and it still had me at the end and Zombies are not my number one favorite, maybe number four or five but it was a fast read  and it was a free download.  If you  run across it-give it a try.
