This is the first in the Hypnotized series by Lucia Jordan and was sent to me via e-mail as a free digital book.

The author writes short “books” to pull you into a certain situation hoping you will buy the three other books in the series. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t.  This time I didn’t.

The story line was good and the sex scenes were very hot and steamy but I just never became invested in the characters so I’ve decided not to go any further in the series. Besides, I know what will happen – Ariana will marry Cody, there will be ups and down but in the end the feelings they have will turn to love and the will have a HEA.

A pleasant read.

Wicked Fall (The Wicked Horse #1) by Sawyer Bennett

Book Description:

Published: July 28, 2015

Never in your wildest dreams could you begin to imagine all the filthy and depraved things that go on inside The Wicked Horse. Step inside and Woolf Jennings will make every one of your dirty fantasies come true.

He’s covered in a facade of deception. An enticing blend of multi-millionaire and hot-as-hell Wyoming rancher, those that think they know Woolf Jennings admire his abilities to preside as CEO of his family’s cattle and oil empire. But only a privileged few truly understand what fuels the glitter of depravity in those gorgeous blue eyes. Only a few know he’s opened up a sinfully erotic and private sex club named The Wicked Horse right at the base of the beautiful Teton Mountain range.

Sweet Callie Hayes has returned home to Wyoming and is looking forward to starting her life over again. After a night of impetuosity, she’s managed to put herself right in Woolf’s line of sight… the man who she foolishly offered up her virginity to years ago and was flatly turned down.

Now Woolf is seeing that Callie is all grown up and has a kinky side to her that leaves him as confused as it does turned on. Worse yet, both Callie’s dirty desires and sweet heart are getting under his skin, and making Woolf question everything he’s ever believed about himself.

This was offered as a Free Digital Book and I enjoyed it so much that I have invested in the rest of the series, which I will tell you about in later posts.

This book is sinfully delicious  fun. Very erotic, dirty steamy  sex scenes. I only wish  that Woolf hadn’t treated  Callie so much like a naive innocent when she really wasn’t . He walked around thinking he always knew what was best for her – and that got on my nerves a bit.  She stood up to him a little, but his alpha attitude was a little much at times.

However, I’d still recommend book. Bridger, Woolf’s best friend and partner, made the book extra special. You’ll have to read it to find out why.

Book Description:

Abandoned by her fundamentalist Mormon father for refusing to marry her sister’s husband, Rebecca has no choice but to work as a cook for ranch owner Carl Lawson and his fiery right-hand man Jamie Briggs.

Beautiful, voluptuous Rebecca is intent on preserving her virtue but can’t seem to resist the pull of the rough, masculine duo…or the wicked traditions of Fort Charles.

This was so short it should be against the law and I didn’t like the plot and couldn’t wait to get to the end.  Though there are three more in the series, I will not be reading them.

Just Shoot Me (Cowboy Way #1) by Becky McGraw

Book Description:

Published: February 14, 2014

Tina Montgomery needs to find her Texas Tomcat. Her promotion and livelihood depend on it. That promotion could mean a new life for her, her sister and her niece. It’s a big risk however, because if she fails in her bid to head up a new menswear line at her company, she could lose everything. That’s why finding the perfect model to represent the line has become her sole focus. At the point of thinking she would …never find that man, one with both experience and attitude that shows in his face and eyes, she meets Dean Dixon. His gorgeous eyes tell a story she definitely wants to hear and the man has more attitude than any she’s ever met. Physically he’s perfect for the job. But that attitude she thought she wanted in her cowboy quickly becomes her biggest downfall when she tries to convince the sexy, but hard-hearted rancher to help her.
Dean Dixon is done with women. His cheating ex-wife has shown him just how untrustworthy women are. He has a ranch to run, and a son who might not be his to raise alone. That’s more than enough for any man to handle without dealing with his sister-in-law’s friend who is determined to convince him to model for her company. He has seen what that industry has done to his brother. Dean is a rancher, not a model, and he isn’t about to abandon his family or fall into the same trap his brother had. He stands his ground, until his sister-in-law tells him why Tina needs the promotion she’s wanting so badly, and asks for his help. Hope had bailed him and his family out when they needed her the year prior. How could he refuse to help her now?

An erotic romance with cowboys and lot of sex. It has a good story line but you don’t have to think too much, a pleasant read in my book.

Rocky Mountain Heat (Six Pack Ranch #1) by Vivian Arend

Book Description

November 15, 2011
He’s the one who taught her to ride. Now all he wants is to ride her.

Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble’s a western-hat-wearing blonde with slim legs that go on forever, what’s a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.

Jaxi has other plans for Blake’s hands, and his heart. She may have once considered him a big brother, but that was a long time ago. She’s all grown up now and ready to convince him that she’s perfect for him. Except he can’t seem to see past the big “don’t touch” sign that’s apparently still hanging around her neck.
When Jaxi ends up living right under Blake’s nose, the undeniable heat between them slides off simmer and leaps up to barn-burning levels. However, a few of the younger six-pack Colemans have decided Jaxi’s brand of trouble is worth risking a few busted bones.
That is, if Blake’s finally ready to let go the reins and fight for what he wants…

Warning: Sexy cowboys seducing and being seduced in trucks, pool halls and barns. Droolworthy country charm, a little double-teaming, a few secrets and a whole lot of brothers to look forward to. Anyone wanna go for a ride?

Another free e-book and a pleasant surprise.
The oldest of six brothers has always loved the girl “next door” but he is ten years older and so has kept his distance, the best he could, although Jaxi has had her heart set on Blake for a long time.  When his mother is injured and Jaxi volunteers to stay at the ranch and help out, it’s all Blake can do to control himself.
This is a book full of humor (imagine all the brothers interested in the same girl at one time or the other) and sexual tension.
It’s a very fast read and I enjoyed it but I probably will not read the rest of the series.       Adult.

Review-

It is so unlike me to read a romance, much less a HARLEQUIN ROMANCE, but it was free and since Zombies had been the subject of several books I’ve read recently, I though I’d give it a try.

It was a very fast read, the story line was realistic and the characters well-developed. And surprise, surprise it wasn’t loaded down with sex scenes as some are. The sex scenes were short and well written and not overly done.  All in all I truly enjoyed this book.

Are more HARLEQUIN ROMANCE books in my future ? I guess time will tell.

The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks

17407748

Book Description

Publication Date:September 17, 2013
In the tradition of his beloved first novel, The Notebook, #1 New York Times bestselling author Nicholas Sparks returns with the remarkable story of two couples whose lives intersect in profound and surprising ways.
Ira Levinson is in trouble. Ninety-one years old and stranded and injured after a car crash, he struggles to retain consciousness until a blurry image materializes beside him: his beloved wife Ruth, who passed away nine years ago. Urging him to hang on, she forces him to remain alert by recounting the stories of their lifetime together – how they met, the precious paintings they collected together, the dark days of WWII and its effect on them and their families. Ira knows that Ruth can’t possibly be in the car with him, but he clings to her words and his memories, reliving the sorrows and everyday joys that defined their marriage.
A few miles away, at a local bull-riding event, a Wake Forest College senior’s life is about to change. Recovering from a recent break-up, Sophia Danko meets a young cowboy named Luke, who bears little resemblance to the privileged frat boys she has encountered at school. Through Luke, Sophia is introduced to a world in which the stakes of survival and success, ruin and reward — even life and death – loom large in everyday life. As she and Luke fall in love, Sophia finds herself imagining a future far removed from her plans — a future that Luke has the power to rewrite . . . if the secret he’s keeping doesn’t destroy it first.
Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common, and who are separated by years and experience. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart.
Review –
Fantastic book, but I knew it would be when I decided to listen to it.
The narrators were January LaVoy and Ron McLarty and they did a fantastic job.
The story is divided into two parts, Ira’s and Sophia and  Luke’s and that ia a format that the author,Nicholas Sparks  hasn’t used a lot and I really enjoyed it. All the while the relationship between Sophia, lover of art and Luke , a rodeo cowboy grew we saw the depth of love that Ira had for his wife, who had died years before.
Of course I cried in more than one part, but it wouldn’t be a NICHOLAS SPARKS book if some tears weren’t shed.
This story shows us how small our world really is and how the decisions we make today can impact the lives of others in the future.
I loved it.
