Review –

I read the Kindle version of this book in 2015 and I found it on Audible in their Romance Package so I decided to read (listen) to it a second time.

What I really liked about this book compared to a lot of BDSM focused books is that Ellie’s had a thing for Kayne for awhile. You usually see it where the heroine is a little more reluctant to get into a relationship with the enigmatic businessman, but I felt Ellie was a little more of the kind of person  who knows what she likes, even if she’s a little too afraid to go get it at first. There’s reasons, and they make sense, but I just liked that she liked him!

And Kayne… he’s got more than enough secrets for the both of them. He’s holding back in a way, too. While Ellie is keeping a safe distance from Kayne for business reasons, he’s keeping his secrets for his own personal reasons. The contrast was a really interesting mix that I enjoyed. There’s a lot of reasons for them to not be together, but I still wanted them to come together.

And, oh boy, when they threw caution to the wind and went for it, it was smoldering! The sex scenes are intense. I loved the Master/slave aspect, too. It’s not something you really see in a lot of books, at least not to this level. I liked that this kind of shed light on a different side to BDSM than the usual, and while some parts left me feeling a little worried, I enjoyed reading it a lot.

As long as you know what you’re getting into, this is a great book. It’s got those mysteries and forbidden attractions that I can’t seem to get enough of, the steaming hot sex scenes that I want in almost all of my books, and watching the story and relationship unfold between Ellie and Kayne was really exciting. They’re a cute couple, despite being more than a little kinky, ha,I loved them!

Listening to the book was sooo much hotter than reading it. The narrators, Muffy Newtown and San Crowley, do a fantastic job and make it blistering hot!!!!

Please heed the above warning because there could be many triggers in this book/series.

I have to get over feeling guilty about reading erotic romances/dark erotica, but I’m not there yet.

This book was fantastic and the author could have left out half the sex scenes and it sill would have been fantastic but not near the PLEASURE to read.

Ellie has known of Kayne for a year or so because of her job but has never, to her knowledge, attracted his attention. Little does she know that he noticed her from their first meeting and he wanted her, Finally she asks him if he’s going to a party being thrown by her boss and he says he’ll go if she is going to be there. Kanye notices a business associate coming toward him so send Ellie off to fetch drinks. Javier, a drug and slave trafficker says he like to take Ellie for his own, so Kanye jumps in and tells him that she already belongs to him. Now he has no choice but to kidnap her and make her submit and be his slave/pet. He drugs her and takes her to his huge palatial whore house.

There she will remain to be brought to the point of breaking being humiliated, left chained to a bed,in total seclusion, naked, and made to have sex whenever Kanye wished, He hates what he’s doing to her but at the same time loving it. He loves to punish her with spankings using paddles, crops and straps. He loves to make her cry. He’s a real bastard. He collars her and tells her she is his KITTEN, a pet and at times she is made to crawl on all fours.  She is stubborn and refused to submit and she is beaten many times. Kanye tells him best friend, Jett, who also works with him , that he’s doing it for his own good. While all the training is taking place Kanye falls in love with Ellie and Ellie finds herself falling in love with Kanye.

After a month, she is pretty well beat down and does everything he says and the sinister Javier is bringing the BIG BOSS  in from outside  of the country for a meeting about drugs Kanye knows that after the party being held in honor of the drug lord, everything will change.

Javier kills his own drug lord and takes Ellie, who he has been lusting for since he first saw her, and shots Kanye in the shoulder. Then all hell breaks loose and men in black bust in and start shooting..

When all is said and done we learn Kanye is a covert agent and has been working undercover for the last six years to bring down the drug lords and the slave traffickers. Ellie finds out about this from Kanye and once her collar has been removed with a bolt cutter she leaves and says she never wants to see him  again.  End

I loved this book and I’m anxious to the next installment in this series to see how they get back together, because I know they will.

Review –

I have only experienced one other book in The Gray Man Series, THE  GRAY MAN, which was the first in the series. I really enjoyed it and made a metal note to read or listen to others in the series.  That being said , I had the opportunity to purchase DEAD EYE  for an excellent price, not realizing that it is the most current in the series.  I could tell my listening to this one that a lot had happened between the first and last books but I was still able to enjoy it as a stand alone book. I normally do not read political, assassin type adventures but the narrator of these books is so good that it made the subject all the better.

The author writes so much action and detail into these books it make me glad I didn’t have to do the research or write it myself. I’m so looking forward to the next in the series but I’m sure it will next year at least. Oh well, I may have to go back and check out the two books that I missed. A girl can only go with some political action adventure so long.
