Dead Ice (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #24) by Laurell K. Hamilton

Book Description:

Published: June 9, 2015

Anita Blake has the highest kill count of any vampire executioner in the country. She’s a U.S. Marshal who can raise zombies with the best of them. But ever since she and master vampire Jean-Claude went public with their engagement, all she is to anyone and everyone is Jean-Claude’s fiancée.

It’s wreaking havoc with her reputation as a hard ass—to some extent. Luckily, in professional circles, she’s still the go-to expert for zombie issues. And right now, the FBI is having one hell of a zombie issue.

Someone is producing zombie porn. Anita has seen her share of freaky undead fetishes, so this shouldn’t bother her. But the women being victimized aren’t just mindless, rotting corpses. Their souls are trapped behind their eyes, signaling voodoo of the blackest kind.

It’s the sort of case that can leave a mark on a person. And Anita’s own soul may not survive unscathed . . .

Review –

From what I  can tell, some readers are fed up with the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Series because the plots are weak and it’s all about the sex. Well, of course it is, that is what makes  a good easy-reading, no thinking necessary story involving the famous US Marshal, vampire hunter and necromancer.

As with most of the books, this one had multiple story lines going but only one main plot and YES there was sex but not much and it was well within the context of the story.

I really like the character of tiny but feisty Anita Blake and now that she’s engaged to Jean-Claude, the centuries old vampire and  the King of the City of St. Louis,  the next book should get really interesting .

I can’t wait!

  1. Have you read the entire series thus far? The necromancer thing is something very interesting to me, and I haven’t come across these books before. Thanks for the review.

    • Yes, I have read the entire series and some are more bizarre than others but I love them all. If you’re thinking about starting the series, be sure to read them in order so you’ll see Anita’s occupational progression and also how she becomes involved with soooo many preternatural beings. I think you will really enjoy them. Thanks for the comment.
