Pushin’ Buttons (Boot Knockers Ranch #1) by Em Petrova

Book Description:

Published: June 10, 2014

It’s all in her head. Until she falls into the hands – and hearts – of two cowboys.

Sexual dysfunction. The words make Sybill cringe, but after one too many failed relationships, she has to face reality. Her O-button is broken, big time. Sick of sitting on the sexual sidelines, she books a week at Boot Knockers Ranch. If a passel of rugged cowboys vying to bring her bliss can’t get her off, nothing will.

Hugh had planned to sit out this week’s rotation of sexual therapy, but when he spots sultry Sybill, he pulls rank. His bone-deep urge to possess her isn’t enough to coax elusive orgasms out of her body, though. And his resolve to give the lady whatever she needs wavers when she shyly makes a mind-blowing request.

Riggs stepped aside when Hugh muscled in to claim Sybill, but he jumps at the chance to fulfill her ultimate fantasy – a threesome. But once they come together, all barriers are stripped away, exposing his love for the one man – and woman – he’d break every last rule to make his own.

Review –

Sybill has never had an orgasm (not unheard of from what I’ve read) and pays to go to a ranch where she will be put in the care of a handsome,muscled-up cowboy and he will solve all her problems. Sounds simple, right?  Not so, in this story.  Hugh is smitten with Sybill the moment he sees her and takes her on even though he wasn’t the one assigned to her. He does all the right moves (oh yes) but she never goes over the edge. Now what would a normal person do-say, “sorry lady but you’re hopeless and tell her to go home”, oh no, Hugh brings in another cowboy, one that he fancies and between them both Sybill finally has her first orgasm.  They work together so well that after her week is up  they make it permanent and she stays on the ranch to live happily ever after.

As you can tell I had a problem with this story. First of all , I believe that if a man knows what he’s doing, a woman can be brought to an orgasm and second of all, I get tired of all of the women in these erotic romances having orgasm after orgasm from morning til night (just doesn’t happen in real life-but maybe that’s why this is called FICTION.

Adam’s Apple (Touch of Tantra #1) by Liv Morris

Book Description:

Published: July 30, 2013

Uniquely told in Adam’s point of view. Warning: Contains adult situations intended for readers eighteen and over.

“I take cocky, rich boys like you and teach them how to make love to women until they’re barely able to mutter a word. Completely and utterly blissed. That’s really what separates the men from the boys, Mr. Kingsley. Sex as an art form versus f**king for a release.” -Kathryn.

Adam Kingsley reigns as the young prince of Manhattan. Everything he touches turns to gold, making him the envy of Wall Street. Women swoon at his feet, money is no object, and his killer good looks are as wicked as sin. A dangerous trifecta that allows him to possess anything or anyone he desires.

What more could a thirty-two-year-old man wish for? Maybe that his life never changes and his murky past stays far away… Sounds reasonable, yet life seldom is.

Kathryn Delcour is an alluring socialite with unique erotic tastes who helps others find true sexual fulfillment. When she suddenly appears on the New York City social scene, Adam finds this complex woman too tempting to resist. He will stop at nothing to have her, yet she is warned to stay away from him and his player ways. Kathryn tries to keep him at arm’s length, but her arms may not be strong enough to hold the charismatic Adam Kingsley at bay.

The passionate lure of ancient sexual practices, a past that isn’t content to remain buried and a present filled with intrigue, danger and revenge. An erotic story sweetened with secrets, seduction, and suspense.

Review –

Even though I read this book to the end I never really got into it. The character of Kathryn was just too weird and I didn’t feel the chemistry between she and Adam. I’m not going to waste my time reading any more in this series.

Creatures of Appetite by Todd Travis

Book Description:

Published: February 5, 2014

They call it The Heartland Child Murders.

Everyone else calls it a nightmare. Locked doors don’t stop him. He leaves no trace behind. He only takes little girls.

His nickname… The Iceman.

A deranged serial killer roams wintry rural Nebraska with a demented purpose no one can fathom. Special Agent EMMA KANE, a former DC cop and damaged goods now with the FBI, is assigned to babysit burnt-out profiler JACOB THORNE, once the best in the business but now said to have lost his edge, as they both fly to Nebraska to catch this maniac.

Thorne is erratic, abrasive and unpredictably brilliant, but what he and Kane find in the heartland is much more than anyone bargained for, especially when the Iceman challenges them personally.

The clock is ticking and a little girl’s life is on the line.

And maybe even more with that, once they find out what he’s really up to.

This book has frank and profane adult language within… this is often how many a law enforcement officer speaks, in my experience. Not all, but many, very many.

The book also has violence and adult situations, but the profanity is the only thing that some folks have been noting, for some odd reason, so I’m warning you now that it has profanity.

Review –

This is a story of a serial killer in the Heartland who kills young girls, usually ages 7-12. Two FBI agents are sent to help the local authorities because Thorne, a very gruff man, who has no friends and doesn’t want any, has the uncanny knack of solving crimes just like this one. Kane, on the other hand, wants to be more than a pretty face and body and earn some respect after having had a bad situation on her last job with the DC police, where she ending up killing three men.

This book is gruesome and very dark in parts but it not overly done and fits perfectly in the context of the storyline.

I won’t give anything away because if you are a fan of murder mysteries with a twist THIS BOOK IS A MUST. The ending alone will make you shake your head and say WTF just happened.

I loved this book.

Courting Trouble (Rosato & Associates #7) by Lisa Scottoline

Book Description:

Published: May 27, 2003

Anne Murphy thought she’d put her unhappy past a continent behind her when she joined Philadelphia attorney Bennie Rosato’s all-woman law firm. Then a friend who’s housesitting for Anne is murdered in what’s clearly a case of mistaken identity, and Anne realizes that the past has caught up with her and that the only way to outrun it is to catch the killer before he realizes that she’s still alive. But how can Anne play dead with a high-profile case just days away from starting? The only way to pull it off is to let her new colleagues in on the secret, which would mean telling them her other secrets, too, including the fact that she’s in love with opposing counsel and the probability that her client may not be as innocent as she thought he was.

Review –

Action begins early in this book and hardly lets go all the way to the end. It is crime fiction at its finest because there are many twists and turns and heart stopping moments before the identity of the killer comes to light. This is my third venture into the lives of Rosato & Associates and I’m enjoying them more and more.  I had the audio version and the narrator was very good.

Zombelina by Kristyn Crow

Book Description:

Published: July 9, 2013

Zombelina loves to dance. She moonwalks with mummies and boogies with bats. She spins like a specter and glides like a ghost and loves to dance for her family the most. When Zombelina enrolls in a ballet class for real girls, her dancing gives everyone the chills! But when her first recital brings on a case of stage fright, her zombie moans and ghoulish groans scare her audience away. Only her devoted family’s cheers, in their special spooky way, help Zombelina dance the ballet debut of her dreams.

Introducing the most adorable zombie to ever grace the dance floor, Kristyn Crow’s pitch-perfect rhyme and Molly Idle’s charmingly spook-tacular illustrations will make every reader want to sway and sashay in their own zombie trance.

Review –

I found this book free online at my virtual library site and had to check it out.

While it is an e-book, it is narrated to you and you see all of the beautifully illustrated pictures as the story progresses.

If you think the idea of a zombie ballerina isn’t very appealing, think again. Zombies have been very popular in our culture for the last several years just like vampires so must young children know what a zombie is.

Zombelina wants to be a ballerina and gets to take lessons but all the other students don’t like her but she practices and becomes very good. When the night of the recital comes she gets severe stage fright and all of the people in the audience run out scared to death at the sight of her. She just stands there, on stage, but when she sees her Zombie family in attendance it gives her the courage to perform and she is wonderful.

This is truly a sweet book and very likable and other reader must think so too because Zombelina Dances The Nutcracker was published this year and I’m sure there will be more to come.

I love it.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Book Description:

Published: August 5, 2014

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.

Love gets ugly.

Review –

I started this book about 7pm and stayed up until 1:30 am to finish it.  I could not put it down because I was so drawn in at the very beginning.

This is the story of Tate and Miles and the chapters alternate with her telling  in the present and his telling six years in the past.  Miles is a very tortured soul and we don’t find out why until almost the end and it is heart wrenching. He is complete dead inside and feels he can never love again. Tate is immediately drawn to Miles and thinks she can make him love her. But he want only sex and she agrees to that just to be with him.  Well, we all know that kind of arrangement never works and so Miles and Tate part badly a few times and you feel for both of them. Finally Tate tells him that he either gives her more or she’s done with their arrangement.  Miles stays away as long as he can but inside he knows he does love her but must make a break from his past first.  By the time I came to the end I was bawling like a baby. I loved this book and highly recommend it if you enjoy tragic love stories and are not offended by explicit sex.

I rated it 5 stars *****

I just found out that this book is being made into a movie in 2016. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ugly-love-the-movie#/story

Review –

I found this audio book on the Virtual Library Book site and since I hadn’t experienced many of the books by Maya Banks I decided to “check it out”.

This is number four in the Sweet Series but I don’t think you have to read or listen to them in order because this one stood alone just fine.

Besides the story being  of a beautiful woman, who has loved a certain dark, moody man, most of her life and her trying to get him to love her too, it is a very sexually explicit book. If you are the least bit offended by vivid description of sex acts and extreme kink, this is NOT the book for you.  There is BDSM, group sex(four men to one woman), threesomes, whipping, bondage, very crude language,dp, and more. Girls, if you choose to read or listen to it, you might want to have the air conditioner on high.

Erotic Romance for readers 18+ contains adult situations and strong language – full-length novel (70,000 words – 278 pages). #1 of a trilogy – all books released.

Review –

A pleasant read about  discovering love when it’s the last thing you are looking for. Alexandre is obsessed with Pearl (gave her priceless pearls as a gift after just seeing her a couple of times) and is jealous of her being interested in anyone else but is hurt when she wasn’t honest with him about her job. They get over that hurdle but his sister is trying to break them up. Regardless, he asks Pearl to marry him and she accepts.  End.  While I enjoyed the story I don’t feel invested enough to read any more of the series.

Insatiable (Insatiable #1) by J. D. Hawkins

Book Description:

Published: May 4, 2015

It’s not cocky when you’ve got the goods to back it up.

Lust-maker. Pleasure giver. Fantasy creator. I can blow your mind in five seconds flat — but trust me, you’ll want this to last all night.

There’s not a woman in the city who can resist me. Except one.

Now she’s got a proposition: Seven days. Every position. No strings attached.

She wants to know what she’s been missing.

Who am I to say no?

Review –

Where do I begin?  This book, thankfully short, was sooooo predictable that as I read I just had to shake my head.

Jax, the main male character, is beyond stuck on himself and believes he can have any woman he wants and believes in his heart that he knows everything about what makes a woman tick. However, he comes across Lizzie, who has broken up with her boyfriend of eight years because he is so vanilla in all accepts of his life. She and Jaz have sex and she aks him to teach her how to ***k so that when the right man comes along she’ll be able to keep him. Jax agrees and they have  mind blowing sex for three or four days and he’s falling for her, but denying it and she knows he’s not the kind to settle down so when a good-looking guy in a grocery store hits on her and asks her out, she pools all her new-found confidence and says yes. She tells Jax the next night and he goes home alone and vows to get her back.  End (Thank heavens)

I’m not going to bother reading the next installment because we all know that he will get her back. Boring.

Fear You (Broken Love #2) by B.B. Reid

Book Description:

Published: May 11, 2015

But after Keiran had conquered her body and tasted her submission, he found a new addiction instead—one he has no intention of giving up.

As secrets unfold,
Identities are revealed,
Danger closes in,
And they both discover what it really means to fear…

Review –

This book is so hot that it is combustible. I rated it five stars *****.

When the book begins Keiran is incarcerated for murdering two high school students by burning them alive. Only, he didn’t do it.  Lake turned him in, again, and when she did, she honestly believed he was guilty.  By selling him soul to a person worse than the devil, he gets out and he and Lake go at it again, hating each other and loving each other. There is so much sexual tension and actual sex taking place that at times it’s hard to stay focused. (I did my best) We learn so much about Keiran’s past and about what really happened to Lake’s parents and numerous other pieces of the puzzle fall into place. This is an edge of the seat book and I can’t wait til Fall of this year for Fear Us to come out. Even though Keiran is so dark and damaged he is one of my all time favorite male book characters.
