But the gossip comes to a screeching halt when another partygoer takes a dive off the hotel’s rooftop garden. As the police investigate, the only one who isn’t preoccupied with the case is Doctor Bev. She’s too busy trying to stir things up with her old flame Norman, who’s reunited with Hannah. Just as Hannah’s patience with Bev runs thin, her rival is found dead at the bottom of Miller’s Pond. To everyone’s shock, Hannah is now the target of a murder investigation – and she’s feeling the heat in a way she never has before…
Review –
I enjoyed this book much more than the last few in the series because even though things were chaotic there didn’t seem to be as much drama for drama’s sake.  The recipes included in each book are a bonus and I’m  going to try a couple of the latest ones.  A great easy Summer read.

Six Years by Harlan Coben

Book Description

Publication Date:March 19, 2013
In Six Years, a masterpiece of modern suspense, Harlan Coben explores the depth and passion of lost love…and the secrets and lies at its heart.  Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for…but she is not Natalie. Whoever the mourning widow is, she’s been married to Todd for almost two decades, and with that fact everything Jake thought he knew about the best time of his life—a time he has never gotten over—is turned completely inside out. As Jake searches for the truth, his picture-perfect memories of Natalie begin to unravel. Mutual friends of the couple either can’t be found, or don’t remember Jake. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart, who lied to him, soon puts his very life at risk as it dawns on him that the man he has become may be based on a carefully constructed fiction. Harlan Coben once again delivers a shocking page-turner that deftly explores the power of past love, and the secrets and lies that such love can hide

I thought this was a great mystery, although slow in several places and a bit predictable in others, but all in all a great Summer read.

NOS4A2: A Novel by Joe Hill

15729539

Book Description

Publication Date:April 30, 2013

NOS4A2 is a spine-tingling novel of supernatural suspense from master of horror Joe Hill, the New York Times bestselling author of Heart-Shaped Box and Horns.

Victoria McQueen has a secret gift for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. On her Raleigh Tuff Burner bike, she makes her way to a rickety covered bridge that, within moments, takes her wherever she needs to go, whether it’s across Massachusetts or across the country.

Charles Talent Manx has a way with children. He likes to take them for rides in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith with the NOS4A2 vanity plate. With his old car, he can slip right out of the everyday world, and onto the hidden roads that transport them to an astonishing – and terrifying – playground of amusements he calls “Christmasland.” Then, one day, Vic goes looking for trouble—and finds Manx. That was a lifetime ago. Now Vic, the only kid to ever escape Manx’s unmitigated evil, is all grown up and desperate to forget. But

Charlie Manx never stopped thinking about Victoria McQueen. He’s on the road again and he’s picked up a new passenger: Vic’s own son.

Review –

if you are a fan of the horror genre, like I am,  you need to add this to your “to read” list and once you pick it up you won’t be able to put it down.  If it reminds you a a Stephen King thriller , don’t be surprised.  Joe Hill is Stephen King’s son.  Who knew, right?  I didn’t until I read a background on the author and then I HAD to read it because Stephen King is my all time favorite author.

This story latches on to you from  the first few pages and doesn’t let go until you are hearing Christmas carols in your sleep.  I’m a bit afraid of Christmas coming this year. Want to know why?   Read the book.
