They are not all “blood and guts” like Carrie, Christine, Cujo or The Dream Catcher most are eerie and compelling and if you’d like to start with a shorter book try JUST AFTER SUNSET, which is a collection of short stories.
I see you read Neil Gaiman and I just read a short Halloween story by him last week and it my first reading. Not sure is I will read anymore.
